Hi Yvonne -
I was banded a week ago Monday on 6/15. I am a Kaiser patient and they have their own Support Group that I attended yesterday. Can you tell me a little about this one? Is it for all WLS? Any bandsters? Any men? Any cost?
Thanks,
Matt

Topic: 6 months post WLS- I feel AWESOME
Hi everyone-

I am now 6 months post WLS and down 53 pounds and life is GREAT!!!!  I cannot believe how wonderful I feel!  I thank what ever power it was was everyday for leading me down this path!  I have added a photo to my Jeanne and Hank album that was taken exactly 6 months to the day from my surgery of me on my horse along with my daughter, the difference between the first pic and the new one is amazing!

I have been very fortunate that I have not had to endure any problems so far!  That does not mean that I haven't had my go arounds with dumping or throwing up but lucky for me they have been few and far between and I am a fast learner.  I never thought that I would be able to live without sugar, but now that it is my poison and makes me sicker than a dog, it is pretty easy to find alternatives that satisfy!  Fruit has become my new favorite sweet thing and it is amazing at how good it tastes all by its self!

I love my new life and would do it again in a second!

Welcome Matt, congrats on your band!  (and good to see you too Kevin).  You might be hungry until you get that first fill or two.  At first I got my first fill then had my next 2 only 2 weeks apart.  Each time I felt better restriction.  I was banded last June and am down 125 lbs in a year. Tthey say it is a slower process than bypass but with some hard work, rule following and exercise it can be done, I feel awesome.  I am 9 lbs away from a normal BMI.  This last 10 though has been going really slow.  I chose banding over RNY for many of the same reasons mentioned.  I think both are great procedures but one needs to choose what they feel is best for them.
