Repliva and supplimentation
I've been taking iron supplements since I was 3 months out. At my 12 month appt, my doc switched me to Repliva and my iron went right up to normal levels, so it's totally worth the money IMO. I also switched to an insurance plan that covers the Repliva, so now I only pay $10 instead of the $33 I spent the first six months on it (my company has about 5 medical plans to choose from - lucky me).
She had me taking extra Zinc and B12 since day 1, so I've always had good levels there. My other challenge was the A&D. I've been upping my dosage after every blood workup. I finally got the A under control after taking Vitalady's 25000 iu dosage, and just recently switched to the 50000iu of D to see how that goes since D's the only one to finally gain control over. They say that we can't keep our calcium levels up without the D, but my calcium has been good each time. Can anyone explain that?
So, from the beginning, I'm taking higher dosages of vit A and D, but my number of pills has remained the same, or even gone down since I'm taking higher dosages in single pills.

From my limited understanding of the subject.....our calcium numbers can be completely normal....even while we are losing bone mass. The reason being that the calcium number just represents the amount of calcium we have in our blood. Unfortantely (or fortunately) or bodies are so adapt that it will leech calcium from your bones to make up an deficiency ......this is why testing calcium is not enough for us...and the reason that we as DSers should constantly have our blood work done to test PTH, track our levels to see if that PTH is going up or staying stable, and get bone density scans once a year.

Scott,
I was having problems with the Iron I got from the Doctor and switched to the Iron that Dina recommended. I have no problems with this Iron, it is Proferrin ES from Colorado Biolabs. 90 pills for about $45.00, so about $15.00 per month. I take this with orange juice about an hour before my other supplements. My labs have improved with this Iron.
