Does orange oil spots in potty mean i'm eating too much fat?

Hey Betsy..... make sure that your 3 month & 6 month labs include cholesterol levels (not standard to draw with GHP), and you will see for yourself that you were not given the correct information from your surgeon.  He is a great cutter though!

Personally, the only time I saw orange oil slicks -- and only when I was relatively freshly post-op -- was after eating something with tomato sauce.  Since that was usually something like the topping from a pizza, it was indeed a high fat meal, but I think it had something to do with the tomatoes too.

Sounds like things are working as they should, at your time out and diet ..

As you get further out and you incorporate more food and types of food into your diet, the "orangies" will become less and less ..  You'll know, though, that your DS is still malabsorbing the fat b/c of the presence of "floaters" (i.e. your stools all floating .. )

The greasy type fats did that to me the first year or so.  Now I can't remember the last time it ever happened.

I have yet to experience oil slicks, and sometimes it concerns me because I wonder if I have the same malabsorption that others do. I get less and less worried as my dress size gets smaller and smaller though. ;) But yes, it's very normal, and as long as the slicks are only happening in the toilet I would just welcome them as a sign that your DS is very healthy!

Nope, it means that you're malabsorbing.  Those oil "slicks" in the toilet become farrr and few between the further you get out from surgery.  I haven't had one in.....I have no idea it's been so long!

I had these very early out. About the first couple months. Not so much from pizza, more from McDonald Southern style chicken & Avocados. Not sure why. But early out DONT TRUST A FART is true. I did and wearing a Khaki skirt to boot! I havent had the slicks since about 4 monthsish out.

I used to make excuses why I cant Now I make reasons why I CAN!!
