I am curious, Terri, re: how you are walking 8 hrs a day---is this part of your job? How old are you and do you think that you will be able to keep that up as you age? I can totally understand your frustration. That is A LOT of energy spent every day to burn calories. I would be resentful---not that that does any good.  I'd bet if you did the Adkins thing, you might loose a bit more, but regain back to your current 188 baseline. Frustrating.

Teri,

I really hope that you didn't misunderstand the context of this post.  I know that the DS isn't a free ride, I know not everyone gets to goal or even a normal BMI - same things that other surgery types deal with.  With that being said - you and I and everyone else who has the DS chose to give ourselves the best possible chance at losing all of the weight, getting to goal, and living a lifestyle more like a "normal" person who hasn't had to obsess about their weight issues for their entire lives.  I just am puzzled by the sheer volume of people who DON'T give themselves the best possible chance.  Perhaps I could have stated all of that a bit more eloquently in my OP...sorry if I offended you at all, because that wasn't my intention.

Happy holidays to you, also...and I didn't take your post as being *****y in the least!  :)

I agree with you Heather, but I don't get into the surgery wars on the MB. Just not worth the effort and hassle. I try to be informative and helpful, but it isn't my job to save the world. I did my own research and they can do theirs. There is a whole lot of stupid out there and most days I just don't feel like fighting it. I read some posts and just can't come up with a constructive answer, so just shake my head and say to my self "you're screwed, honey" and move on. It may be selfish, but I feel there is only so much I can do without getting all tangled up in a big can of worms. I saw the WW fruit 0 points post and just shook my head and didn't even open it. I generally respect WW, but how can fruit have no points? It has a lot of sugar, even though it is a complex carb. Like you, just glad I no longer have to diet.

I agree that 'dieting' after wls would suck but I don't think one should judge someone else's choice to try to better than selves or if ww makes them feel supported, then let them.

I wasn't judging, and that's why I didn't comment in that thread.  I genuinely feel bad for these people, honestly.  Part of me feels a bit guilty that I don't have to worry about that whole dieting mentality anymore...because it was such a part of who I was for so, so long.

I was referring to the other post judging these people who feel the need for added supportive. I think the other thread was tacky. JMHO.

remembering my doctor's words before surgery - this (DS) is only a tool - what you do with it is your choice - wise words that I have repeated to myself several times when I am tempted to eat that cookie (or two/three). . .
