I do try to eat low carb high protein...typical day would be

Kashi, go lean high protein cereal for breakfast with flax meal protein powder almonds sometimes half a banana with unsweetened almond milk....mid day coffee with xylitol and whole milk...carb conscious supreme protein bar for lunch with hot green tea...snacks i eat would be varied like trail mix, sunflower seeds, soynuts, whole milk yogurt or Greek yogurt, cottage cheese with fruit spread (5 carbs) dinner would be grilled chicken or steak with some kind of grilled or roasted vegetables sometimes
I make chef salads. Rarely do i have desserts but I do have sugar free candy. When I go to the gym I make low carb shakes with protein powders. I also drink a high protein drink Thats mixed with water.

Again thanks ladies I really appreciate the advice. My family isn't to supportive they weren't a big fan of my surgery especially after complications.

I think you are greatly underestimating your carbohydrate intake. For example, a breakfast of actual weighed/measured portions of Kashi Golean w/almond milk (I used 1/2 cup for this example) and half a medium banana is 45 grams of carbs. Half a cup of trail mix could run 20+ grams of carbs easily. Add your incidental addition carbs in your other foods and you're at 100 grams or more of carbs in a day.

The simplest thing to change in this scenario is to get rid of the cereal for breakfast and replace it with a big dose of protein.

You might also visit the issue of sugar alcohols. Getting them out of your diet might have an impact on your weight.

The other thing is, you might be eating too little on the whole, even though you might be eating too much of some things and getting the carbs up there higher than you think.

I agree. I don't think you realize how many carbs you are actually eating. You might try (as others have suggested) ditching the cereal. Also no fruit, especially dried fruit. Eat eggs and bacon for breakfast. Stick to protein foods and eat green vegetables, but no potatoes, carrots, corn, beans or peas.

I have been working on a 57 lb. regain that I have accumulated over the last several years and so far I have managed to lose 26 lbs. going very low carb. You might want to give it a shot.

And I also agree with others that you use a site like Fitday to track your carbs.

Honey, the "protein" you are eating is not a very absorbable (bio-available) protein for us. It's going right through you, it's all carbs. Seeds, nuts, cereal, soy, almond milk - we absorb a lot less protein than from animal sources. You need to eat eggs, cheese, more meat in addition to your yogurt, cottage cheese and protein drinks. And stay away from sugar substitues ending in "-tol" as those are actually sugar alchohols.

This is coming from me as a LOW carber... not me the DSer since I'm only 8 weeks post op BUT I've been eating Atkins for years and you are eating pretty high carb...and tons of sugar alcohols.  You should really do a carb detox... no sugar alcohols either (they cause cravings) and try 1 week at something extreme...under 30 carbs a day... or under 50 at least... I bet you'll see a difference in your weight and how you feel.  I know I would have never touched yogurt or any type of cereals or milk...all of those are really carby.

I'm sorry you'd had complications and struggles :(  I wish you lots of luck figuring it out! :)

Try logging your food in a site like livestrong and see how many carbs you are actually taking in bc Kashi and oatmeal are very high carb, I would lose those and choose eggs and bacon or sausage for a while.

With all that working out do you think you could have developed some muscle, which is heavier?

I've seen many people a year or more out be able to drop a small regain in no time flat by getting back to DS basics.  No need to panic, your DS is still there for you lots of folks here will give you nutritional advice on what works.

I'm going to mention something about the Kashi cereal too.  Even without a DS, my H decided he liked this stuff... I avoid it like the plague... it made for bad gas,... but also bloating and water retention.

I agree with trying the vites and bites thread here. It does me a world of good to post my food with others. It's really rewarding.
Here's what I wanted to happen with my DS. I wanted to have it, lose the weight and then eat like what I thought normal people eat. Well, it just doesn't happen that way for me. I watch what I eat not so much for weight loss or maintaining weight loss, but more so to feel comfortable. I get miserable with a lot of carbs(gas, pain, bloating) or even lots of fats(diarrhea, pain, hemmroids, malnutrition).
Meh...it all comes down to a good balance.
