Day 4 Post Op - Bloated but feel good
I had DS surgery on Tuesday 7/16. The gas in my abdomen was uncomfortable and I couldn't have any liquids until I passed gas. I did ge****er to coat my mouth but I was really thirsty. I have not had any pain from the surgery. I feel like I was kicked in the stomach, it's sore, but not painful. I threw up the dried blood Wednesday night and felt so much better, then had bowel movements Thursday, but my Doc said he wanted me to wait one more day for fluids so we would know my stomach would tolerate them. I was discouraged but when I got my tray on Friday with six liquid options, it looked better than a steak to me! I came home that afternoon and am doing fine. Drink of choice is plain water. I will do my protein drink but really do just prefer the water. I also gained 9 lb in the hospital from the saline drip and look forward to losing it. I know our bodies are all different - and I am not gloating, but am thankful mine is one that seems to be responding well to the surgery process. But I do look forward to when the liquid stage will be over!
