Topic: RE: 2nd x denial of WLS/ no fault of my own!!
I'm sorry I don't follow you. You turned in all requirements to Dr Jawad's office and they didn't forward it? Or you asked your regular doc to send it to Dr Jawad and they didn't sen it to Jawad?
Are you saying that Dr Jawads office sends the paperwork in peacemeal and you are getting frustrated? Dr Jawad gets paid by performing operations,,so not getting you operated does not benefit him. If his staff is dropping the ball,,you should get in touch with the Dr himself or his assistant....I had some issues as well but everything worked out in the end. Do YOU submit the paperwork to your insurance co?? Has it occured to you that the papers were send out by the Dr's office and your ins co office does shoddy work..? I agree with you to get a copy of all needed forms and after the 3rd try something is missing you can fax the missing docs yourself..
How did you confront the surgeons' office??? They denied what? Apology for what?
I can understand that you are frustrated..but it will not help you at all..
Good Luck
Petra

Hello OH Family,
I wouldl ike to congratulate and encourage all of you who have gotten their dates and who have had wls success. After carefully viewing my options of wls and doing some 5 + years of research I have decided to have wls. Looking at one of the most creditable and by reputation surgeon in my area I decided to go with Dr. Jawad's team. Il iked the reviews and he is such a conveint to me.
after finding out that my ins covered wls I started with all requirementi i.e. physc eval, 5 year history, sleep study you name it I did it and had everything completed with in a minth's time.
I made sure that Dr. Jawad's staff had everything that they needed to get an approval. The very 1st time submitting paper work to my ins. I was denied because they didn't have all my clinicals.
Second time around all clinicals was submitted and again I am denied!!! Yeah this time because they didn't have my 5 year weight history!!! Is that a double whammy or what?? Someone please talk to me let me know something. After confornting the surgeon's office they denied it. Still I have yet to receive an apology. I have never heard of anything like this. I am fustrated, angry, embrassed and hurt. I am in such a reck right now. I am FURIOUS!! I have requested my 5 year weight history and requested that all records be mailed to me before we start with the third appeal. Suggestions are welcomed!! I really could use some words of wisdom!! By the way I know that the third time around is a charm!! We'll have to wait and see. I'll keep you all updated!!!

Congratulations Jennifer on ,making the decision to have the surgery. I had the RNY surgery and have been very pleased with the results. My friend had the VSG and she is doing well also. She had not lost as musch weight as I have but here starting weight was a lot lower than mine so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. The reason I chose the RNY over the VSG was I have no will power, if I did, I wouldn't be the size I was and wouldn't have needed the surgery. Being the VSG does not change your digestive system, you really have no restriction on the foods you eat, I would be afraid i would eat the things that I shouldn't and gain my weight back. With the RNY if I have sugar I will get sick, if I have too much fat I will get sick. this keeps me in check, I have hear about the "Dumping Syndrome" and I sure don't want to experience that!!!!!
No matter what surgery you choose, losing weight and regaining your health is the best thing. Who knows this could help your fertility problem.
Best of Luck
Donna

Topic: Insurance company question -
Hi everyone, I am a newbie !!!
I am on my hubby's insurance bcbs of florida and don't know if they cover it ? but My orlando health insurance does, but my surgeon i saw yesterday said he is going to try both company's and see which one approves. The only bad thing with my orlando health insurance is that they just put this weight loss surgery on there plan this year and it said you have to be with the insurance for min of 2 years. which i am a long time employer of 10 years but i got seperated from 2008 jan to 2009 march and that's over the year mark. so i missed it and called and asked them and they said they have certain criteria's for this surgery. so i told my surgeron and he said he will figure out how to get around it and will talk to a big wig at the orlando health that is a good friend of his and will see what he can do with my situation . so I got my primary care's letter today and next friday is my nutrional eval and then jan 25th is my psych eval and then he will write his letter and send in all the 4 things to the insurance company and then the waiting for approval will begin . Oh my that's the nervous part of getting approval or not !
any suggestions on insurance let me know ?
thanks

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say Hi, My name is jennifer and I am 33 years old and been struggling with weight since 22 years old. I have been on a few diets and nothing had really kept me down in weight ! I Had my first consultation with the surgeon yesterday and he said I am a healthy girl and will do great with the surgery. I am going to be doing the Vertical Sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) , My work insurance covers it but the only thing with that is I have to have the insurance for min of 2 years. I was seperated a year ago from my company and got rehired and now I am on My hubby's insurance and Mine and we are going to check with both of them and see which one will cover me. I am also been struggling with INFERTILITY and OH BOY is that a emotional, mentally draining. We have been trying for over 3 years and and still seeing a fertility doctor. Looking into adoption for now so at least we can be parents and I won't be too old to enjoy the kiddies.
If anyone has any feedback on VSG let me know. My BMI is 42.9 I am 5ft 1 in (I shrunk since 2 years ago , probley due to my back and neck issues ) Weight is around 227.
thank you
jennifer :)
