hi I am looking for a local support group in the Lakeland area. I moved to Lakeland and would like to hook up with a group. I had my surgery 4 years ago and have regained 25 lbs. was at 290 now at 175. was down to 143 but felt miserable so i got up to 150 and stayed there for a couple of years then it went up to 175 . I had breast cancer 2 years ago and the stress from that and then my daughter was diagnois with cancer in her lymph nodes and that just had more stress., but thank God we both are cancer surviors now, and I need all the help I can get to get these lbs. off. I did the 5 day pouch test but nothing. I exercise daily and now starting to do daily walking.  Any advice is welcomed.

Hi I am a new member to the site and looking for some friends who would be willing to encourage me as well as be encouraged. I live in Jacksonvlle area, but don't mind making friends in any part of FL. I will be having my surgery on Friday (May 4th), and would really like some advice on how to get thru the next two weeks of pure liquid.

There is a support meeting on the 3rd Weds of the month at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Their phone number is 352-351-7200. I don't have the address. I'm pre op and just saw the info in passing.

Shands Hosp may have one also at the University of FL in Gainsville. GL!

all of FL Medicaid programs will cover gastric bypass. The trick is finding a surgeon that will accept it. I am going to a surgeon in Ocala, Dr. Hoddinott. He is out of Monroe Regional - it is a center of excellence. He takes medicaid and does an open gastric bypass (RNY).
