Topic: RE: Question for those who already had WLS
This will be my first holiday season since my VSG and there will be changes. I knew there would be and embrace my healthier life. I will be saving a lot of money on the baking I WON'T be doing. I used to bake a ton of cookies... and ate them as well. No more! Evil carbs! I'll be very careful of what I chose to eat. Turkey or ham will be my priority... perhaps a few good veggies. Shrimp ****tails are always a crowd pleaser and a good source of protein, too. Same thing with Ahi Poke and other meat or fish appetizers I can make.

My family has been very supportive and have shared in the concepts of good eating, so the focus won't be on the high fat, high sugar, high carb foods. Sometimes you have to let go of tradition and it's ok.

Since I am still in the losing phase of my journey and not in the maintaining phase, I will be very careful and stick to my plan. It's really a way of life for me now and I don't feel deprived. I feel enlightened and aware and so much the wiser! My cravings for sweets has also diminished since I gave them up, so I am not going to focus on what I can't have or what I USED to have. They are what got me in trouble in the first place! I always try to look at things in a positive light and focus on what I CAN have. It's more fun that way!

I am only 3 weeks out and I don't feel deprived at all.  I went to a party last week.  Well before the party I ate some pork tofu.  Then I went to the party I was so stuffed.  I waited my 45 minutes than started drinking my Crystal Lite in one of those famous red cups.  Everyone thought I was drinking a mix drink.  Well then I saw the baked fish going on the BBQ.  Right then I put down my drink and waited my 30 minutes and had about 2 oz of fish.  It was so good.  Everyone know that I am always on a diet and it does help that they always see me walking now days so they know I am on a mission.  Nobody knows about the surgery.  I am keeping it that way with my friends.  My family all know now about the WLS but don't know what type I did.

Like everyone else.  Welcome to Hawaii.  Yes you will need a bathing suit.  Water is still nice and warm even in December.  Hickam AFB is a great place to be and since it barly rains there you will probably be at the Beach a lot.  They have a great beach on base.

Sorry I don't know of any plastics for Tripler.  If I was you make sure that you get some kind of referral and medical requirements before you leave so that you can have plastics covered by your medical.

Try looking at Sports Authority.  They have all types over there like Wilson and Nike.  Its worth giving it a try.
