Okay, so I have now chosen Dr. Fowler to do my surgery. The problem is, I want to get the VSG. I would prefer to go to Dr. Cirangle, but that is out of the question due to funds. I was told by several people that Dr. F only does VSG if my BMI is over a certain amount, and it IS. I'm also pretty sure my medical will cover it. The problem I have though, is finding someone who has had the VSG done with Dr. Fowler. I've only seen those that have had the RNY or lap-band. I know that is the 2 main surgeries he does for WLS, BUT I also know there are LOTS of people that are really big like me, so I am hoping to find someone who has had VSG with him. I am not knocking those who have had the RNY or the lap, because you guys look GREAT!!!! I am just convinced that it is not for me, so if anyone out there has had this surgery with this doctor, or knows someone who has, please let me know. I was trying to find out how many VSG surgeries he has performed but have had no luck there either.......

What a jackass!!!

I can totally relate to dr.'s being insensitive. I got told pre- op that I should just go to weigh****chers and get a personal trainer to lose the weight, and that I was being impulsive for wanting wls. THen I got told post-op by my dr. that the statistics were against me for losing the weight and keeping it off because of my history of depression!! Dont these people freakin think before they open their mouth!!

I could have dwelled on their words etc but it made me angry and I thought to myself I am going to prove them wrong. Our pasts do not have to be our future.Do not let this man's negative words get to you!! Your new life will begin before you know it!

All i gots'ta say is.......WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!! You're almost on the losers bench!

Thank u Nikki for this...I wanted to go but felt weird bcuz i am not havign my surgery with him..but the opportunity to talk to real live patients is always helpful
