APRIL 2004 RNY PEOPLE
Hi Kathy,
Congratulations on your success so far. You're doing wonderfully.
If you want to talk with a lot of people who had their surgery during April, not just Iowans, go back to the top of the page, on the right where it says "current month" & "WLS reunion." Click on the current month to get the drop down & choose April 2004 and then click WLS reunion. You'll go to the message board for that month's patients. It is a good way to compare how you are doing & to realize you are going through the same things.

Kathy:
Hi, I had my RNY surgery April 2. I'm down 98 lbs!! I too am feeling great! I have had very few problems eating so far!! I definitely know when I've ate too much, up it comes!! I do occasionally have days when something doesn't set right, but can't complain overall! Dr Schwartz from Grinnell was my surgeon. Do you have much dumping? I really don't, which maybe isn't good? I do avoid sugar and greasy foods I figure better to assume I'll get sick, then find out I actually can eat those things! Then I'd be too tempted to start sneaking this and that, and end up back where I was! Hope to hear from you! DeeAnn R. 284/186/150

Hi, it was nice to here from you! We all lose at different rates, you've done great so far, hang in there!! I guess what's probably helped me more than anything, is exercise! I don't always eat as well as I should, Too many carbs, and snacks!! I usually walk or do the elliptical trainer for 1 hour a day, usually 5-6 days a week. I do strength training about 3x a week, and take a 45 minute class 1 to 2 times a week. It consists of some strength training, and yoga. I almost wish I was a dumper, just because it probably helps a person be more careful about what they eat. I do avoid sugar and fried foods, and tell myself I can't have them. I'm afraid of what might happen to my weight loss if I found I could tolerate sugar!! Take care, and good luck with your goals!! DeeAnn
