Flying with protein powder?

Hi,

I'm probably worrying for no reason.  But, I'm wondering if anyone has flown with ziplock baggies of protein powder and if you've had any trouble?  Obviously, I don't want to lug large canisters of it with me.

I think that you should buy protein samples from Vitalady.com.  Each sample is sealed in small bags and labeled with the name of each product, serving size, and protein info.  Hopefully, this kind of labeling satisfies the TSA requirements.  It would be far easier to carry several small bags on flights than those cumbersome two-pound canisters.

Hope this helps!

I've flown several time with mostly Vitalady protein samples and made up the difference with some I put in baggies myself along with my shaker bottle with wire ball and a week's worth of vitamins. I put it all in checked luggage rather than carry-on. With carry-on I put a couple of manufacturer labeled individual envelops in my bag and they made it though TSA. An Atkins shake ready-to-drink with the seal still on did not and they took it.

Champion sells envelopes of their products.  They are pricier, but they are completely official, sealed and labeled.  That is what I took to Vegas with me and it was fine.

On the siggy thing, you have to highlight the PICTURE of your ticker, click copy....then open up your siggy line here on OH and choose paste.  Do not try to use the code that the website give you, that doesn't work here on OH....not sure why.

There is no rule against powders (except black gun powder which can neither be carried on nor checked) . Otherwise, protein powder would fall in the same category as baby powder. The only worry would be that a Ziplock bag could burst or rupture and make a mess of your belongings.

I've even done baggies of random vitamins and they don't even bat an eyelash.

No advice......just wanted to say, "thanks for asking!".

I am heading off in a couple of weeks and was wondering the same thing - since I'm flying.

Good to know about the samples and vits not being an issue.  I will be taking both in my check on.

When I flew across the country for surgery I put 4 baggies of protein powder into my shaker cup & into my suitcase.
Then I found Starbucks & ordered a smoothie; strawberry banana w/ protein added. I even did that on the way home from surgery being wheeled around each airport in a wheelchair by flight helper. LOL that's service!

I had a formula container where its clear and the top spins to dump one serving at a time. Doesn't spill and is compact. Just thought I'd share.

I fly internationally all the time. I would suggest NOT taking protein powder out of it's original container. That could open up all sorts of questions and problems. Since you do not want to lug the containers you might want to get a bunch of samples.
