I will be praying for both you ladies with the heel spurs. I saw my grandmother go through that and it must really be painful. I hope that you find comfort soon.

Peggy, I will be praying for your daughter and family.  I hope that whatever the situation is it will all work out. "For we know all things work for the God for those He loves and calls according to his purpose".  But one of the hardest ones for me is to be still and know He is God. I lay everything at His feet but sometimes I just dont want to wait. I am so bad.

Take care and know we all are praying for you!

Thanks so much for the info Amanda!  I am so worried that I will be off work for too long.  I can only take like 10-12 days off.  And, I stand most of the day assisting an oral surgeon.  But, I can sit down thru out the day occasionally.  I am going to have my 2nd consult with Dr Jones on Aug 12 due to my indecisiveness.  Thank you for your help!  Sincerely, Laura

Oh Linda, this sounds so painful.  I am so sorry you are having this problem.  I will keep you in my prayers too.

Hi Laura,  I had a lap RNY and have 5 small incision (think the largest was the width of a quarter).  I had my surgery early Friday morning and went home Sunday afternoon.  I took a week off from work (it happened to be spring break for us) and I did some work from home durign that week, but the Monday after I was back to my normal routine with weight restrictions.  And please note that I have a sit down computer job.  I did find that I got tired easier the first couple of weeks after the surgery, so usually by the end of the day I just wanted to go home and nap.

I think what helped me the most was I got up and moved as much as i could, as well I have a two and three year old boys to keep up with.

It's good to meet you, Laura. To answer all your questions about my experience with RNY, the best thing to do is to go to my profile and read from October 2005 on. That explains in great detail everything that you have asked. Keep in touch! God bless! Love, Cindy

Contact Brenda Cacucci. She has taken on most of Dr. Gupta's patients. Those that she hasn't, Dr. Diaz did.

Hi Cindy, This is so funny, but my mom's name is Cynthia Snyder, too!  We live in Anderson, though.  Dr Jones is my surgeon too.  I have not had surgery yet because I am so torn over which surgery to have!  I've completed my 6 mos. with Dr Gomez and it all just needs preauthorized with insurance.  Can you please tell me if you had any problems/complications with your rny?  Was it open or lap?  How long were you in the hospital and how long until you could go back to work?  Thank you so much for any help or advice.  I haven't talked to anyone that has been a patient of Dr Jones, so I appreciate all you can tell me.  Sincerely, Laura

Topic: Recipes
Thought I'd share a couple of recipes we tried out at our support group meeting this month.  They were both delish.

Blueberry Ricotta Muffins (these were delicious!  really moist)

1/4 c butter
1/2 c sugar sub.
1 whole egg
1 egg white
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 tsp almond or orange extract
1/2 c LF ricotta cheese
3/4 c flour (wheat was used in the samples)
1/2 c almond flour (this can be made by grinding almonds yourself)
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 c blueberries (if use frozen it will take longer to bake)

Cream butter, sugar sub.  Blend in eggs, ricotta and extracts until mixed.  Add all dry ingredients to wet and mix until combined but do not over mix.

Bake 350degrees for 20 min for regular muffins.  12-14 min for minis.
5 g protein each

*Note:  protein powder can also be added to these.  Use slightly less flour if adding protein powder.

  Black bean salsa

1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can diced tomatoes (fire roasted recommended)
2 limes juiced or 2 TB red wine vinegar
1 TB oil (olive or canola)
2 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 TB garlic
1 small onion diced
1-2 tsp hot sauce to taste or cayenne pepper
fresh cilantro

Mix oil, juice and seasonings until blended.  Add remaining ingredients.  Cover and chill.
Serve cold.  Best if it has set 6-8 hrs so flavors can develop.  Great as topping for burgers, chicken or fish or with baked tortilla chips.

Enjoy!

Topic: RE: DS performed by Dr. Inman?
She great! She just did the second have of the DS 4 months ago. She only does on DS week since they take longer to do in surgery. If you have any question just ask her. She will answer you back. Go over to the DS borad and more people will say something about her.

On the journey to losing weight, your friends & family will be the first people to try to knock you off. They do this not out spite, but out of being convicted and knowing they should do the same. It's easier to put someone down for doing the right thing, than for them to actually do it. So at your next family re-union or wherever you are eat your chicken and broccoli and smile when they make jokes about you, they are jealous!
