Topic: Loans for procedures
I was recently reading an article from november of 07 and someone asked if there were banks or financial institutes that do loans for weight loss procedures. I was also wondering the same thing. Or could they take payments. I am considering tall grass. I have no insurance and for me to save the money to pay out of pocket would take 10 or more years. Hopefully someone can help! Thanks!!

Hey mommacat We are damn near neighbors. I'm from Emporia. Yes...please check out the DS. I went up to Omaha, Nebraska to have mine. I have osteoarthritis and was able to get one of my knees replaced a few months ago but I still need ot take Celebrex every day for the other one. Being able to take NSAIDS was a major factor in choosing to have the DS.  If ya want. PM me and I will tell you how to get a hold of me and I can answer any questions you might have about the DS. Good Luck

Hi All-- Thanks for thinking of me!  I'm here and doing fine.  Surgery went great and I am now eating mushies and planning on my first fill 2-15.  But, I did have some problems.  I have an occasional problem with my digestive system where it just shuts down for a few days.  Trust me--it's ugly and it doesn't take long to be feeling REALLY bad.  My doc thinks weight loss will probably end the problem-- I hope so.  Well, a few days after surgery, the problem reared its ugly head and I was one sick dude for a couple of weeks.  Lost a bunch of weight, but not worth the pain.  I had great help/advice from my docs and am feeling good now.   Helana-- I had a previous commitment and couldn't come to support group yesterday.  Am planning to attend the next one.  Hope to see you there. Jim

Topic: Finished 5 Day Pouch Test
Well, I did it!!!!  I found out my pouch is working wonderful!!! I feel 100% better now that I have gotten my rear back on track!  As an added bonus I lost 7 pounds too I figure that's pretty good. Over Thanksgiving and Christmas I had gained about 6 pounds, so now I figure I'm down another pound. I strongly suggest if any of you out there are struggling to get back on track, go to 5daypouchtest.com and give it try, it sure did wonders for me! I'm not craving all that sugar and those bad carbs I was before. Another thing I have noticed is I'm gaining back some of my energy. However, some of my energy coming back may be because my PCP called me on Thursday with the results of  my labs, and as I suspected my thyroid med level needed adjusted. She upped it, so maybe that is kicking in also. Anyway, just wanted to share with you all that I made it through!! Hugs Theresa

Hi, I have Rheumatoid arthritis and had the BPD/DS done instead of the ryn mostly due to the med issue and worry over getting ulcers in a blind stomach.  Do you see a rheumatologist? There are many new meds out there some are even injections(methyltrexate, enbrel are the 2 , I useI also take celebrex) Even though with the DS I can take Nsaids , I still can get an ulcer from over usage. It was very responsible of your Dr. to give you the heads up.  Maybe at the information meeting you will get more feedback. try and met up with someone in person who has your same problems and has had the surgery you are looking for. Good Luck on your journey - may it not take too long

Yes!  With the DS, you CAN take NSAIDS, so all is not lost. ***Snaps to Lena for asking us on the DS board *** Come check it out and learn more.  Up on the forums link, choose Duodenal Switch, and you can see what it's about and come to our message board.  Also, check out duodenalswitch.com for some great clinical data and oodles more DSers that aren't here on OH.

Have you researched all WLS procedures? I believe there is an option (DS?) that you would still be able to take NSAIDS. I'll ask a DSer...
