Topic: RE: Help on Insurance rejection
You'll only need about a week for recovery. Surely they can swing that. Why wouldn't it qualify for medical leave in the first place? I think they are thinking this is cosmetic like so many other people and insurance companies as well. Try telling them all of the co-morbidities you have and explain that they will likely be cured by having the surgery. Educate them about the surgery and obesity in general. May fall on deaf ears but it's worth a shot.
Topic: RE: Pittsburg Kansas
I looked at my atlas and it looks like KC and Joplin are about the same distance from Pittsburg. If you have family in KC then that would be a good place to have it done. Support is good.

I'm not sure he has looked that closely into it... But, he works with several who have had WLS and according to his ex wife he has pretty good insurance... So, I guess I need to ask him about that first and then try to help him find a surgeon. I told him I would be one of his support people since he is divorced, and Tulsa would be good for me!! lol
Actually, now that I think about it, I think the Kansas City area would be just as close (or closer) than Tulsa. I looked into a couple of surgeons up there before settling on mine in Tulsa... And, we have family up there so that would be convenient... So, maybe I should direct him that way?
Thanks for your reply.

How many times have you had to go back to the Dr. They said I would have to go back I believe in a week and then I wasn't sure after that.
boy I hope my liver is shrinking. I wouldn't mind eating just one little bite of something. But won't.

You are getting so close. I'm getting excited for you. You will do great. You have done your research and are ready. Before you know you will be waking up....and then you will be 6 months out...doing wonderful. I never have asked what they used on me back in May. I have an appt in december and think I will find out for sure. mary

Looks like Tulsa would likely be the closest as well unless there is a place in Joplin MO. I don't have much faith in medical care in the Joplin area. My parents lived there for a time. Living in Kansas the question is if he has insurance that will actually pay for it.
