Awesome! I bet there are a lot of thoughts, uncertainties running through your head right how if you are like me. We can be on the loser bench together....my RNY is 12/20. Best wishes! Congratulations!
Topic: Surgery Scheduled!
Well, I had my initial consult and scheduled surgery for Jan 7 at IABS (MISH) in Lenexa! http://www.iabsobesitysurgery.com/index.html
I'm really excited and somewhat apprehensive too. Dr. "K" and her staff seem outstanding and I know I am in good hands. They are an ASMBS "Center of Excellence" which was a must in my search.
I too will have to go through the dreaded 10 day liquid pre-op diet, but that's certainly a small price to pay to get a positive start to life in Bandland. Looking forward to hearing from all the other folks getting banded in the same general timeframe, as well as those experienced folks who can steer us down the right paths!

Just keep busy busy busy.
I am glad to hear that you feel Tallgrass is good. It is sure great knowing that from everyone. Good luck to you.

I am not worried about not eating the cookies, etc. I just want to feel good. I don't want to be sore or lightheaded, etc. We always have so much fun together so don't want to miss out.

Hello. I am a fan of Tallgrass! They have been great so far, and quite organized. From the meeting(very informative) to my surgery date of 12/20 was just over 3 months for everything. I didn't have any problem getting approved through Triwest, but I overloaded them with documenation just to make sure! This is where it starts, and Rachelle will call you with a date for your consultation about 2 weeks after you get your packet back to her. The Drs. review the packets...decide if you are a candidate, and then let Rachelle know who to schedule for consults. My consult was about 5 weeks after the information seminar. During that time I took it upon myself to have my PCP get their recommendation letter/referral done, my psych eval done, had my PCP order my sleep study, got my records all sent from the past 5 years, as well as any supporting documents I could find. It made my process go much easier, and quicker. Everything was there when I came in for my consult.
Good luck! I really think you are in good hands. Several of the surgeons in that office have been around Topeka a number of years. They are experienced, and I am impressed that there is always two surgeons in the operating room just in case something goes wrong. I feel very comfortable with that fact.
Topic: RE: wondering about surgery after Christmas
Hi,
My preop is 12/11 and RNY surgery on 12/20. I get Thanksgiving this year, but sadly not much Christmas. I am trying to get all my holiday stuff done early so that I can just coast through after surgery...hopefully. It seemed to work out better for my husband to take off around that time from work. Take care.....be looking for you on the loser's bench.
