To be honest, I think the Dr. in Junction City isn't too intent on the Lap Band because of his inexperience with it. When I was talking to LivLite, he had only performed 3 lapband surgeries. I'd stay with Tall Grass.
Topic: Holy Cow...weight loss is great!
I can't believe it. I stepped on the scale and to my bewilderment, I'm down 17 lbs. since my surgery on 10/24/07!!!! I'm sure it's mostly water weight...but hey...I could care less! It feels GOOD!

Oh I'm sooo happy for you!!!! You will love Dr. Hitch****he and Dr. Hoehn are both just fabulous, as was the entire care team. Are you having RNY or Lapband?
Topic: RE: Home and BANDED!!!
Thanks! I'm feeling better everyday! The only complaint I have at the moment is that my stitches are so itchy and driving me crazy!!! You know, they say good things are worth waiting for....and I have so much to be thankful for. It's a new start in my life, and what a wondrous journey lies ahead!

Congrats! Glad to hear your doing ok. I know from your previous posts you had some false starts but hey, perseverence pays! Hope you recover quickly.
Topic: I'm Approved!
That was quick. I checked the BCBSKC web site this morning and I have been approved for surgery. It took only 3 days. Next step is see the surgeon (Dr. Hitch****) and finish up a couple of pre-hospital items and I am ready to go. With any luck I will see him in the next week and get my surgical date. I'm pumped!

I'm so excited for you!! I'm glad all went well. I have mine 11/5 so I am getting very nervous. So far everything has been very smooth.....I want it to stay that way.
Topic: I'm back
Well, after almost a year of being gone, I'm back. I had looked into WLS, but even with letters of recommendation by my docs, my HMO wouldn't budge.. I have changed doctors, and this new doc is even more against Bariatric surgery than my other doctor was. I have changed my job, and now am working at the hospital in my community where these are done, and have a couple new work friends who have had the surgery. They gave me tips, and which insurance plan I need to sign up for to get it paid. I don't know, I'm pushing 60, but cannot live this way much longer.
I will probly need to change docs again (sigh), but it will be worth it if I can find someone who will support me.
Thanks

It went well. They are very nice. They are going to try to work around my work schedule. I will just wait to hear from them as far as a surgery date. I will also have to go back to do the pre op testing. At this time i don't have to have anything more than blood work and I think tread mill. we talked about lap and RYN. Decided that for me the band probably is a good choice. Dr. B said the wt. loss in the end can be about the same. band takes longer but we know that. She pretty much said what they all say. So I am sold on the band.
