Hey Cassandra,
I tried to add you to my friends list and it won't let me. We met at the Support group meeting for KC Metro.
I know nothing in regards to this support group that you posted about but took the opportunity to get in touch with you.
Have a great weekend.

I just heard that live lite in Junction City does lap band.  When i visited them in Sept. they didn't do it.  Actually the Dr. didn't talk real highly about it.  I kind of decided that wasn't for me .  Then I did some more checking and am glad I didn't do the Rny.  Especially after reading some of the posts about lap band, recently.   Does anyone know.  It sure would have been closer for me. but if they haven't done many I guess I am better with Tallgrass, anyway.

I had my surgery at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in KC with Dr. Hoehn.  My doc had me stay in the hospital overnight just because of the distance between Wichita and KC, should any problems have arisen.  Everyone was fabulous and treated me so well.  Definitely worth the 2 1/2 hour drive for the care!

Yesterday was my big day, and now I'm home and banded....so scoot over everyone....and make room for one more!!!  I really feel like I'm having the opportunity to start a new life!   I think I'll be sleeping in the recliner tonight, though....I'm more sore than I expected to be!  And silly me, I didn't go get my prescription for the liquid pain reliever because it was so nasty tasting in the hosipital.  LOL....well let's just say we made a 10pm run to Walgreens to get that puppy filled!!!  But I can honestly say, "I'VE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY TO BE IN PAIN!"

Topic: RE: Where is the cheapest and most reliable place in the KC area for self-pay lapband hopefuls?

I finally got insurance to pay for mine but before I was looking at a Dr. in Colorado. He was $12,000 and the ticket to Colorado was $200. I think so much of the success of the lap band is how much support you get so knowing what I know now, I may try to go with someone local. After my surgery, I've met more than one weight loss surgery patient who's gained it all back or only lost 20-30 pounds. That's like a nightmare to me after all this work and surgery. I go to my supoprt groups and stick with it, I personally think that really helps.

A flex spending account is the best way otherwise the total spending has to be more than 7.5% of your income to qualify for a deduction. So, it depends on how much you make.
