Hi Renee! I too, live in Wichita.  I started with Solution for Life here, then was working with LivLite in Junction City.  However, now I'm going thru the Bariatric Center of KC/Shawnee Mission and Dr. Hoehn.  At first I was discouraged and depressed about not being able to have my surgery done in Wichita....however now I'm very glad that I have had to "shop around."   If you'd like, I'd be happy to share my experiences of each program with you.   Looking forward to hearing from you. As a self-pay I would be very interested in knowing approximate costs and what is/isn't included (e.g. fills).  I am going to the seminar at SMMC soon and looking forward to banding in January when the new tax year kicks in.  I was very impressed with MISH (IABS) in Lenexa as well and plan to check out TallGrass in Topeka.  Anyone know much about either of them?  Thanks much for the great advice! I have been taking the phentermine for 2 months now....first visit (1 weekslater) i lost 3 pounds...2nd (4 wks later dealing with the floods and family staying with me)..i gained 4!!!! i have however lost 5 this month....i did my sleep study 2 wks ago. i don't have to get a cpap but i do have to get a mouth piece..i think i almost would have rather had a mask! i also have restless leg syndrome so they are putting me on requip. have started to have some pretty bad swelling in the ankles so now i'm on meds for that!!!  after my last visit the dr decided to put me on orlistat...$218 a month out of pocket..can't afford it. talked to the pharmacy and they said take double dose of alli....that only $100 a month and i still couldn't afford it. my dad sent me $250 and said that he wanted to pay for it and that should get me by for a couple of months. i am going to get it today. i hear it gives you bad poohs....great..i'll be running to the bathroom all the time!!!i feel like i'm turning into  a walking pharmacy and I'm only 35! think any of these issues are going to assist with my approval??? at this point i am strictly going thru my pcp....these are the steps he's telling me to take..at what point do we contact my insurance company to start the process of getting approval? he says we need to do at least 6 months of appts and meds and trying to lose to before even applying...i need some advice!!!!! i'm really thrilled to hear many of the good news stories...good for you!!!!!

Topic: My brief Story
Well I dont post often, But i fiqure this is a good time. I was banded on June 5th in Monterry Mexico by Dr. Rodriguez. It was the best decision of my life. Since surgery I have lost a total of 52 pounds. I cant belive it, 52 pounds in only two months. I keep myself on a very strict diet. There are no rewards for me. The only reward I have is when I get on that scale once a week and weigh myself. Then the work I put forth every week seems a little bit more worth it. Just this past week I started lifting weights. Wow how out of shape I was and what one week has already done. I feel great for the first time in a very long time. I'am scheduled for my first fill at the end of this month, the more I think about it. I dont know if I really need one. On average I have been losing two to four pounds aweek which seems to be more than other people do even with a fill. I think I should have it only because I know there might be that time when I might have the urge to cheat a little and I really want to avoid that.  William Fuschino

Topic: RE: Paying for Surgery out of Pocket
Have you considered going to Mexico. I too had to pay out of pocket. I did alot of research and ended up deciding to go to Mexico. The cost here in the states was around 17,000. I was able to have it done in Mexico at about half the cost minus airfare. My doctor is Dr. Aurturo Rodriguez. He was simply amazing first class all the way. I had my surgery on June 5th and to date have lost a total of 51 pounds excatly. I would have never benn able to afford it here.

Check out my profile for pictures of MARINER OF THE SEAS from a cruise I did with my family in 12/04, and from just two weeks ago when I did an inspection tour for this year's CRUISE TO LOSE!  Make sure you check out the pictures of the Royal Promenade, ROCK CLIMBING WALL(!!!!), 18-Hole Mini Golf Course, ICE SKATING RINK (again, !!!!!!) among other points of interest!  The Royal Promenade has café’s and bistro’s, and Promenade Cabins overlooking the “main street” – these areas are actually “Inside cabins” retrofitted with a picture window overlooking the promenade!  NO OTHER CRUISE LINE offers such a great, inexpensive alternative to what would otherwise be an “Inside”!!  Each day there are various activities here, including parades, parties (70’s and 80’s parties, Mardi Gras, etc.), and while at sea, the shops along the mall are open for business!

Go to www.rubycruises.com to PRE-REGISTER – upper right hand corner.  If you have any questions, you may PM me here, email me at [email protected], or call me TOLL FREE at 866-685-RUBY (7829).
