Hi This is my first ever posting. I am in the process of getting oked for Roux-en-y. I have seen my pcp Dr., the Surgery Dr., the psycologist, had cardios done, blood work done and I see the dietician Monday.  I have been oked on all. The next biggest hurdle is insurance co. I am 40.1 bms, type 2 diabetic, high blood pressure ,high cholesteral and knee problems so I pretty much meet the criteria!  I am from Mo and going to Ks. I thought it was ironic we are switching states so I felt I would like to contact you. Does anyone know anything about Dr Udobi from University of Kansas Medical center?   My family Dr sent me to him, so I guess I'll stick with him. He is very informative and his staff is great. It's nice meeting you. I know you'll do great ( that's what I keep telling myself!)

Hey Holly ~  I have a problem getting my butt out and doing the walking or just working out.   I like to swim and I keep saying "I need to go to the gym and swim but then I don't do it."   I do walk from time to time in my neighborhood but I don't do it as much as I should.   I have not returned to work yet and I am in hopes that when I do that, I will work out more.  The gym I attend is close to my work place which is rather distance from my home.    I am still learning how to eat and I normally pick at my food.  I need to eat more then I do and I have been working on that. We will see how this next week plays out.   I do get in approx 50 grams of protein a day and 50 to 60 oz of water but I need to up that and do better.  Hope all is well.....

Hi! You know, food is about our only social life except for me going to church. So, that life will become a thing of the past, and I think it will be hard at first, but oh so worth it! We went out to Stroud's in Wichita for supper tonight with friends. They wanted to take me out for our 'last supper' together for awhile. Strouds is famous for their fried chicken and pan gravy, potatoes and beans. It was good, but the last fried chicken I intend to eat for a LOONG time, if ever again!  I need to get the food god off the pedestal and put God up there where HE belongs! Blessings and Hugs,  LaNeta

Hello to all you wonderful people out there. What's new with you guys??? It's getting hotter than blue blazes out there. We have been very fortunate with a cooler than normal June here in SE Kansas and then WHAMO, that hot weather hit. Well, how is your week been going? Are you making any weightloss/exercise plans??? If so, are you having any luck sticking to them? Earlier this week I made out a weeks worth of menus and I don't believe I've followed them one day.  It really makes me mad when I do stuff like that.  Also on Sunday I went for a mile brisk walk and came back home feeling great. I was dragging my rear end, but feeling great that I done it! Well so far, that's the only day I've walked WTH??? I personally just need to start holding myself accountable for sticking to my plans. So what about you? This is the place to post your delight or aggravation for following your "PLAN".

the best way to find out is to contact your health insurance company and find out what the coverage is and then it if is covered they can help you with the process for approval.--good luck!

Topic: RE: find dr/hosp accept medicare
I have medicare but also a medicare replacement and the only place I found that would accept that was in Sedalia at Dr. Hornbostel.  I have heard he is an excellent surgeon so I have chose to go to him and I live in Overland Park.  I started out first thinking I was going to have this done at shawnee mission went to the seminar and everything turned in my paperwork then got a call from them saying they wouldn't accept my insurance so I started looking else where and found Dr. H.  I went to his seminar and was very impressed with him more so then when I went to the shawnee mission seminar.  It is now mandatory for medicare patients to go through a 6 month dr. supervised diet so that's something you may think and prepare for.  Dr. Hornbostel's next seminar is Aug. 7th and the drive isn't that bad it is worth it!  Good luck on your new journey.

Whew! You have a life, girl! Me, I don't go many places or do much. I am getting ready to go back to school to work on my masters in Christian counseling starting in September. I am also taking sign language. I love Montana and Wyoming, but am kind of stuck here for now. Will see where the Lord sends me. I told hubby that after I lose this weight, I want to buy a motorcycle. He is not wow'ed with it, but he isn't wowed with much of anything! Ha! As for Stephens Ministry, one of the gals involved in SM here in Hutch visited my mom the last few years of her life, and gave her some happiness. Well, we will have to compare notes. I am SO excited about surgery. Do you have to do the liquid diet beginning July 23? It is interesting how physicians differ. Anyway, good luck and take care! LaNeta

Hello LaNeta! We will be Surgery buddies! I will be having mine in Olathe!  I just got off the phone with my primary care doc's office and they are very very supportive! (she recommended me to my surgeon) They are hooking me up with an antidepressant. I have been asked to go off my EstraTest.. eew! That worries me more than anything.. I tried going half dose and the emotion was too much! Anyway.. you were asking about what we do in our spare time.. Husband has a motorcycle.. we like to go on rides. We hang out at the church a lot. We are both Stephen Ministers.  I like to read. Play on the computer and go to the movies.  I also like getting out in our motorhome in the spring and fall to go camping at the lake near here. We have a pontoon boat that we like to take out onto the lake and play in the water.. .. Summer is just too hot!  Later on in the fall I plan to get back up in the air and work on getting my pilot's license. That is a dream that I have had since childhood.. we stopped for financial reasons and are now looking for a plane.. 2 seater so that we can build up our hours for finishing.. the less I weigh.. the more fuel we can put in the plane... the further we can go before refuleing!!! that's my story and I'm stickin to it Lovingly, Dorothy
