Topic: RE: Solutions for Life message board...
Tammy,
The sloutions board is going to be great if we can get people to use it. It is set up only for those who have gone through Solutions for Life. I don't think they are going to open it up to everyone.
It will be a great way to stay in touch with those who have used SFL.

Topic: Solutions for Life message board...
Just incase anyone is interested Solutions now has a message board. It is VERY slow as there are only like 21 members. But I would love to see it pick up a bit. There should be enough of us to get it going!!

Dr, Kaniewski at the Minimally Invasive Surgical Hospital (MISH) is now a Center of Excellence and accepts Medicare. She has a seminar this coming Saturday morning for anyone researching WLS. She is an EXCELLENT surgeon and her staff is the best I've EVER come across!!! I had my Lapband surgery with her in November but she also does RNY, DS & BPD. Here's the link to her website....good luck!!!

Hi. I'm in Merriam, and I had my surgery done in Sedelia Mo. and I have Medicare. It was the closest place that I found that was a COE. But, since I've had mine done, Dr. Hoen's office has received their COE. His office accepts Medicare, HOWEVER they DO require you to pay the balance Medicare does not pay. It's a lot! I LOVE Dr. Hornbostel, and all his staff. I think my out of pocket expenses were about $300-400. That's nothing compared to the new life you get. Again, I think the world of Dr. Hornbostel, and am SO glad I chose him. It's a pain in the butt to drive the 1 3/4 hour, but it's well worth it. Also, did I mention I REALLY LOVE Dr. H?? :-) When I researched having this done, it took me over a year to find how to get it done w/ Medicare as they really aren't that helpful. Let me know if you want any other information. Good luck!

St. Francis hospital in Topeka is now a COE. The doctors at Tallgrass also accept Medicare patients. They just recently got there coe certification. Dr. Dunshee, Dr. Bernsten and Dr. Hamilton are the surgeons at Tallgrass. They're all excellent surgeons. Dr. Dunshee did my wifes Roux-en-y surgery. He is really great. Doesn't look a day over 18. I went to Sedalia MO to have surgery and out of pocket for the hospital after Medicare paid was about $900. They are very goodabout taking payments too. My surgeon (Dr.Hornbostel) accepted Medicare as payment in full. Even if your surgeon doesn't he will still have to write off what Medicare tells him to. Dr. Hornbostel is an excellent surgeon. I found him to be very qualified and conscientious of the patient. For example after surgery I was on a pain pump. That was nice because it's more effective than waiting for a shot like my wife did after her surgery. I have no reservations about recommending him.

Hi ,Susan I started in febuary at a siminar at SMMMC in Feb. you MUST ATTEND something like this where ever you go. They have theirs 2 times a month .If you go to one of these They can tell you about the cost with the dr. I had to show that I had tried to lose weight with the help of a dr. in the last 2 yrs. I think weigh****CHERS OR SOME THING LIKE THAT QUALIFIES . I would start by getting ahold of a hospital that you want to go to then working with a dr. I live in Mo. but close to Atchison Ks. I , m not sure where your located but if you can go to a seminar they can help more than I can about the dr. being on medicare you don't have to be preapproved. I hade my Surgery. 5-14 -07 You will have some up front cost But most places will work with you. I did have to see my regular dr. and get them to send data to the bariatric center. I hope this helps contact me with anny more ? Paul
P.S. Ask your regualar Dr. to recomined some one Some times they can help.
My Dr. is Stanley Hoehn. Office # 913 677 2508 they can give you a date for the next class.
