Good morning! And nope, I am not Medicare. My husband has me on his insurance with anthem bc/bs. They have been amazing to work with. We also have tricare. As for St. Fancis in Topeka, they were not on the list when I checked, either. So, Columbia was the closest. My friend in Topeka had hers done there, and she is down 150#. She looks fantastic! Her daughter calls her a Goodwill junkie. She said she was losing so fast, she went to Goodwill and bought a new wardrobe. When she 'undergrew' those, she just returned them and got a new set! I think I will do that!  She said she still shops there, and she has some snazzy outfits!  Congrats on your weight loss! Fabulous!  I am SOOOOOOO anxious to get in and 'get 'er done!' Have to tell you -- my hubby told me yesterday that when I go on the liquid diet, he will, too! He needs to lose too, but that is support!  My friend in Topeka said that when she had her surgery, she was starving, and her (now ex) husband heated up two burgers in the microwave and ate them on the way to the hospital. She said she wanted to kill him! Now that is FAR from support - more like abuse!   Well, have a fabulous 4th, and we will talk to you soon!  Hugs, LaNeta

Good morning! As for the salt museum, they are not done with it yet, though they are done enough to have tours. There are tour buses there all the time. I imagine it will be even better when we decide to go down there.  I have now had three requests for the dress, so I have sent pix to the first two. One wants it for her daughter, the other for her mother!  So, whichever is fine with me. I took it out yesterday for the first time since our wedding and took pix. I forgot how gorgeous it is! Well, have to check out the board and then get ready for a cookout. I am not looking forward to sitting out in the heat and humidity, but it is my husband's boss who put it together, so.....what do you do? Hope you have a great 4th too!  Hugs, LaNeta

Topic: RE: Hello i am new here :)

Greetings!   I also have BCBS of KS and no coverage for WLS.  Otherwise, I am pretty happy with the plan.  I am saving and hoping to have surgery early next year.  I am new to all this and really in the research mode.  Lots of good info. here on OH though I wonder about the rates of the various complications I read about.  Some folks seem to sail through with no problems while others seem to have a really tough time.  I know it takes work, and I am willing to work, but I really need to know if WLS is a long-term answer.  I've lost hundreds of pounds over the years only to gain it all back, and I just can't face that again!  If I were able to change my behavior permanently on my own, I wouldn't have this yo-yo problem.  That's why I'm considering the Lap-Band-- appears to be an ever-present friend/reminder to keep me in line!  Currently considering Tallgrass in Topeka and another place in KC area (can't think of the name at the moment).  What do y'all think?

Are you sure that they are a COE? I'm assuming that your iinsurance is Medicare. I think they consider themselves to be a COE but Medicare doesn't agree. There have been others on this board who found out the hard way. If you go to this web site:http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedicareApprovedFacilitie/BSF/list.asp#TopOfPage you can search Missouri. There are 4 of them. 3 are in the Saint Louis area and the other is in Sedalia. This page is updated every day and I've found it to be very accurate. I'm not trying to ruin your whole day or anything, I just would hate to see you go there and find out last minute that Medicare won't pay, or worse have the surgery and find out Medicare won't pay. I think the mix up is that the doctors the are all ASBS certified but the hospital itself must be certified as a COE as well. Saint Frances hospital in Topeka is now a coe, but they weren't when I was trying to get surgery. I had mine done in Sedalia last Oct 5th. I'm down 147 lbs and counting. I go and buy a cheap pair of jeans at Walmart because I wear them for a few days and put them in the wash. By the time I get them back they're starting to get loose! So I don't buy Levies any more just jeans from Walmart for $9.97. I too would like to see this board get more action. I come here just about every day to check and more times then not nothing has changed.

Topic: RE: Flooding
I agree the flooding is BAD! Around here, in SC Kansas (Reno, Sedgwick and other counties) we had flooding about a month or so ago. We have numerous roads washed away by the flood waters. This is the worst I have seen it here. The poor farmers are either taking yields of 11 bushels to the acre on their wheat or plowing it under. It has been a rough year with tornadoes and flooding!  Everyone, stay same for the 4th!  Hugs, LaNeta               Sprinkler

I haven't been to the new salt museum. I wanted to go but just today found out that no one under the age of 4 is allowed to go underground (that's what their brochure says). Since I have a 3 y/o and a 10 month old, I don't think I'll be going for awhile. It looks neat though. Good luck getting rid of the wedding dress and have a safe holiday.

Hi there! Well, God gave us all different talents. I used to watch my mom and aunt can, but never got into it. We have an Amish community just 6 miles from us, and you talk about canners! Whew! They can what they grow, and boy, are they good at it!  I dvr'ed the newest Big Medicine, and am anxious to see it. I understand about the flooding. We have had a lot of that around here this year, and it has destroyed much of the wheat crop. The wheat behind our house is pathetic, and will probably be plowed under. A friend of ours has 3000+ acres that he and his family farm, and they are only making 11 bushels to the acre. That is BAD! Have you been to Hutchinson since our new underground salt museum opened? It is the only one in the western hemisphere, and just opened a few months ago. We only live a half mile from there, but we haven't been there yet. I want to wait until I get the weight off, so hopefully, I won't be so claustrophobic!  We also have the Kansas Cosmosphere, but in the 18 yrs of living here, we haven't been there yet! :-)  Well, I have two people to e-mail pix of my wedding dress. They are interested in the dress, which is about size 28-30. It has been put away for 22 years, and I will be thrilled if someone can use it. Heaven knows I won't use it again - ha!  Hope you all have a great 4th - take care!  Hugs, LaNeta                                                             Fireworks
