Topic: Surgery was postponed until Friday! sigh
I was scheduled for RNY yesterday (wed).
I arrived at the hospital a nervous wreck - was admitted, had my gown on and IV in place, had my blood thinner injection, and boots on my legs, when a nurse came in stating that my surgeon had an emergency sugery that he had to perform on a patient from the previous day and would be in surgery for several hours. I was told that my surgery would have to be postponed until friday! I was so disappointed!
I know everything happens for a reason - and I dont mind to wait another few days - however, any nervousness that I already had has been amplified times 10 now! Im even more worried that something might go wrong with my surgery - just like the patient that my surgeon was having to re-operate on.
I know everyone is different and some of us have more health problems than others. The surgeon tells me that my case should be easy breezy but I cant help but have butterflies in my stomach!
thanks all for listening!

Thanks everyone for your replies! I had a big let down today!
Here I was in my hospital room with IV in arm - all ready and set to go - when an emergency arose with a patient that my surgeon had operated on yesterday. He was expected to be in surgery for 3-4 hours! My surgery had to be postponed until Friday!
As if I wasn't stressed enough! Sigh .. ok breathe!
So now, not only am I a little nervous, I'm ALOT nervous! If something went wrong with the patient from yesterday, am I going to have a problem too??
My fiance reminded me "that everything happens for a reason". I sure hope he is right!

Hey Leslie! Welcome to AL! Yes, it is so hot here we are going to burst into flames! If you exercise outside, it is best to wait until 8:30 at night (and then it is still hot!). Are you in Montgomery? I'm an hour north in a suburb of Bham....I'm in Helena.
Pop in on the AL board....we need some more action over there!

Topic: Helloooooo KY
Just popping in to say hello, I am in AL now and trying to get adjusted.
Work is AWESOME........LOVE it!
The temp has been high...up to 107-well, that was the heat index so not sure what the actual temp was- one day in Montgomery last week.
This southern food is killing me! It's delicious and I need to stay away.
Felt like I had gained a few pounds but still holding about the same....141.2. Must be sweating it all off! LOL
Hope everyone is having a good week.

Shea,
I know exactly how you are feeling. My RNY is scheduled to take place on the 30th. Every since I got the call yesterday I have been a ball of nerves. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow on your surgery. You will do great and come through it with flying colors.
Lots of Luck,
Andrea
Topic: Tomorrow is my big day! (RNY)
Ok.. so until this point I haven't been nervous at all about my upcoming RNY. With my surgery tomorrow (Wed) at Georgetown Community Hospital, Ive spent the last two days making myself a nervous wreck!
I've done all the research I need to, made all the necessary plans/changes, stocked my kitchen full of bariatric friendly foods/supplies, packed my bag for the hospital stay, and here I sit waiting for morning to come.
I spent all day yesterday crying. I never thought I would be scared of surgery, however, it has finally hit me. The, "oh what if something bad happens" moment. My fiance reminds me every few hours that it isn't too late to change my mind and cancel the surgery. I don't want to do that. I want to get through this "scared" moment! I didn't spend two years trying to get surgery approved to cancel now.
I know many of you have gone through this so please wish me luck and hopefully I'll be able to post great news in a few days! Thanks for listening!
