Let's talk about restriction?!?
I do not post often but read everything and I am sure I have read what I am about to ask but I need a refresher. Restriction, I have had 2 fills 1st fill 1 cc - 2nd fill dr only pulled out 3/4 cc (to check) so put a total of 1 1/3 cc back in; thinking that I may have had another 1/4 cc still in the band. My restriction is so wishy-washy no rhyme or reason, no certian time of the day, just decides to kinda close up at times. Is this restriction? I seemed to be doing o****ill Saturday night I ate some pork chewed and chewed seemed to go down great......then the pain (Oh my) and I got so sick, not a PB, I mean full swing vomit and dry heaves for about 20 minutes. I have been on liquids but I am sore (getting better) and even coffee is staying in the pouch for a while. Then I sound like a slow drain and it goes down. Gurgling. So is this restriction?? I am enjoying the weight loss and may just have to be more careful. If there is just 1 1/4 or so in the band that does not seem like much? Or does it I guess what I am saying is Sound normal?
Let me know what you think.

The amount of the fill in terms of cc's is pretty irrelevant...there are really only 3 fill levels:
1. Too little
2. Too much
3. Just right
Might take 3.8 cc's for someone to get to #3...or .5cc's...that's what's so great about the band.
I can't eat pork chop either...no matter how well I chew it, it just doesn't work, but I have no trouble with chicken, go figure LOL I can, however, eat pork center-cut loin roast...See if it happens with very specific foods, and if they don't work even when very moistly prepared and lubed with low-fat/low-cal sauce, well, it just may be a food you don't tolerate...or a certain form of the food, etc.
After a bad PB (that applies to any barfing from eating, which is why I hate the term and prefer "bandster barf" LOL), going back to liquids is exactly right. Sounds like the episode swelled you up a little which is why the coffee would gurgle.

hi
michele - when was your 2nd fill? if your fill was last week - it may have kicked in by sat. & eating the pork would be a case of eating something that you were not ready for - remember that getting a fill is like surgery all over again - your tummy has just been pulled in & pulled out - it needs time to relax to it's new size-that's why you need to stay on liqs. & mushies for a bit - you probably are a bit swollen too from the pb - just stick to clear liqs. for a day then ease back to thicker liqs. the next day then try eating softer foods, of course you should always call your dr. to let him know as well...the gurgle is normal - i sound like a backed up drain in the morning
btw restriction is when you can eat a sm. portion and stay full for a long time..hope i helped you

hey Michele ease your way into it. Often times in the start we don't realize we are full and this happens. Just a thought before you get another fill give your body a chance to adapt and for you to catch up to the signals your body gives you. Right now I have 1.9cc's and can tell a very soon when the next bite is too much.
Good Luck It does get easier & so does the PB when it comes to that.
I don't post or respond often, but I do try to keep tabs on the forum. I have to respond because I think I'm experiencing the same thing. I got my third fill last week...I'm up to 1.8cc's. Boy, what a difference-I'm not sure if I may even have too much. I seem to only be able to take in a very small amount-maybe 2-3 bites of meat/veggie and then I'm DONE!
From reading on the forum, weight loss doesn't truly begin until you have restriction. I've lost 25 lbs since June, but with this restriction, I think the weight will be coming off more quickly now. Good Luck, and I'll try to post an update.
