yesterday was 2 weeks post op and I went to my Doc and he took the staples out. He put some white tape on them and told me to leave them on for a week and they will fall off. When I got home that day three of them were off so I called and they said it was ok. Tonight I was burning like crazy so I looked at them and the Big one still has tape on it but it has this clear yellowish stuff leaking out. Is this normal? its freaking me out.

Could be what I call scab goop - the crud that forms into a scab. I got this one when a scab caught on my clothes and a new scab had to form. But the surgeon did end up pulling off the new scab at my next visit to make sure it wasn't infection. You might call you doctor's office just to make sure it's not infection. You should probably call your surgeon just to ease your mind. I had some leaking on a few of my incisions. You want to look for signs of infection such as redness, warmth around the incision, foul smelling discharge, or discharge with a greenish type tint to it. I would suggest calling your surgeons office and at least talking to one of the nurses. More than likely it's nothing, but better safe than sorry.

Hey Kassie, this is normal, just fluid from healing skin. Jus****ch out for pus, red hot incisions. I am a nurse so there is the answer. The steri-strips that are on your incisions may all turn yellow before they dry and curl up. You can leave the strips on till they fall off by themselves, as the ends loosen just clip them so they don't catch on your clothes. Your fine. Good luck. Beverly

Immediately after showering and drying, I put bactine or neosporin on those spots for the first 6 weeks after surgery. I figured it couldn't hurt to kill any germs that might be lurking around until my "wounds" got well closed. Can;t hurt.
