I admit to making horrible food choices this week.  No pasta but lots of cookies and junk!  I guess I know the answer   See he was right, the doctor told my friend who has not been having any success that he operated on her stomach, not her head!!!  I go for my third fill this week and am going to be the same as I was the last time.  I blew IT!!!!

You would have had to have eaten 21000 EXTRA calories this week to gain 6 lbs (on top of say 1000 calories a day that would be 28000 calories) I doubt you did that (I couldn't even if I tried) chances are that your bad choices extended to your water consumption - it is most likely water weight due to salty snack food and low water consumption.  Jump back on the band wagon and start 2007 off with a smile - whats done is done and you cant undo it - but you can use to start fresh. Good luck

Like the first poster, it is probably mostly water weight....simple sugars and sodium found in junk food will cause the body to retain water. Every month the week before my period I gain 5-10 pounds, is it that time for you? My suggestion- cut out the junk (or at least cut down) and water load.

So what?  That was then this is now! I've gained and lost 10 pounds in a day before, too.  Docs don't know why.  Its just life. Keep moving and it will go away! Lori

If you've been avoiding carbs then the re-addition of them certainly can cause a huge water weight gain (this is one of the gimmicks Atkins uses to try to prove carbs are bad). One of the functions of carbs is the body's ability to regulate fluid levels. Carb deprivation makes us do a big water weight loss and eating them again makes us hold onto some additional as things get balanced out. If you haven't generally been avoiding carbs (meaning, you've been getting about 50% of your daily calories from the carb family) then ignore this LOL But really any sort of rapid "gain" like this is going to be fluid weight. It takes a LOT to gain 6 lbs of fat and it's pretty close to impossible to manage in a week's time. In terms of gaining 6lbs of fat, that would require overeating 21,000 calories beyond what you used (approxmate, of course, but it works as an example). I doubt you managed anything close to that. That would mean eating about 3,000 cal more than usual per day. Nancy
