Do you judge yourself by your scale weight?

Do you judge yourself by your scale weight? If you stay the same, or if you gain, does your self-esteem suffer for it? If you lose a pound or two, do you celebrate and feel better about yourself? Does your scale weight determine success or failure for you?

I judge by the scale...but thats because the scale and I didn't get along in the past!!  We are learning to become friends now!  I get mad at myself and think that I screwed something up if the scale goes up a pound.  When I lose, I feel like I won the lottery (I wish!!)  When I lose I tell my family and friends, when I lose I keep it to myself!!

I'd have to say no to that one. I know if the scale is not moving, the inches are, FOR ME ANYHOW

yup, i do.  and i know that we shouldn't because plateaus are normal, and sometime we lose inches without losing pounds.  but the reason i got surgery was because i was so f***ing sick of being the fat girl, being the funny friend, and dating losers.  so those numbers going down are the reinforcement that i need.  every line passed by the needle on my scale is like a big hug from the universe, and it makes me feel better.  yes, i feel better when the butt of my jeans start to sag, but not nearly as much as when that needle moves.

It’s one of the things that I use to judge my progress along with the activity level that I can maintain, how my clothes fit, and how I feel.  Progress feels good.   But I don’t know if I would connect it with self esteem a whole lot.  That should come from what kind of a person you are.

Since I weigh myself once a month now, I tend to judge myself on scale progress less and focus on how clothes fit and the tape measure is saying nowadays. Sometimes, I can be the same weight or gain a little (especially around that "time of the month), but at the same time, the tape measure will show a loss or my clothes will feel/look looser.

I judge my success at losing weight by my scale weight.    I get bummed out when my weight is up.  I'm happy when my weight is down.    I don't judge my personal value by my scale weight.   If I'm up or down a couple of pounds, that doesn't reflect on my personal sense of value.  :)   I'm the same person I ever was, fat or thin. I'd have to say yes and no. Mostly yes.  But when I see the scale at a stand still ( I worry ) What am I doing wrong? I've followed what my dr says to the letter. But I'm learning more and more it's not the scale that matters most it's how you feel and how your cloths are feeling.
