I'm just wondering...since pasta is a problem for many bandsters...(after all, it SWELLS up) has anyone tried these Shirataki tofu noodles since having lapband surgery?  Do they give you any trouble?  How do they compare to real noodles?  in taste and in texture..

I can eat pasta, never had a problem with it.  I like low carb Dreamfields.  I have had the shiritaki, they are not the same, but don't taste bad with lots of sauce and cheese.  The texture, is a little rubbery and slick.  It smells like fish too and you have to rinse well before you cook it.

They make me want to  and then maybe some more.... haha... sorry, i just have strong feelings towards them. I have NEVER eaten anything to disgusting in my entire life! To me, those noodles make spam/sardines/liver taste good!

I like tofu products, but those noodles just weren't RIGHT some how.  I've got some spaghetti squash to plant this spring-I love squash.

My favorte pastaless dish right now is just a good marinara sauce with some diced eggplant in it-I don't even bread the eggplant.  (Now, I truly LIKE the taste of eggplant, so take that into consideration).

I've not really tried pasta since banding to see if it would work for me or not-I've always been a sauce girl/eat the top of the pizza anyway, and the band is my "excuse" to indulge in the way I prefer anyway.

I tried them for the first time last night, PUKE! I gave them all ; two bags of them to the dog last night and today. Max liked them, but Pugs eat anything. You can best believe that at $1.89 each they were horrible. A weird elastic consistency, like a tapeworm, even after parboiling and thoroughly rinsing them before and after cooking.  I will never ever buy them again. I ended up having some of the family's low carb spaghetti. Hope this helps. Diana

They are more like Asian rice noodles (I make Phad Thai with them).  They wouldn't even be close to spaghetti due to the light texture.  I like them stir fried with the meat, eggs, peanuts, bean sprouts and savory sauce.  I hope I can tolerate them after the band, the whole pack is like 40 calories and mostly fiber calories. ~Kim
