I don't believe in counting carbs, but we need abou 120 gm a day for health :ow carb diets are very unsafe, for longer than a brief pre-op LSd. This is standard nutritional national standardsm AND DOES NOT CHANGE FOR WEIGHT LOSS. We need an even healthier, cpmplete diet than others, if we are to gegain our health - this is the real goal of banding. not simply weight loss.
if we are getting the fiber we need (which is 100% carbs), then the protein (50-60 gm for women) and some healthyoils fro the heart, carbs will be fine.
Lots more on all the nutrition needs in my Band guide, n lots more, in my Band guide, if you'd like a copy. email me to request it at [email protected]

Hi -
You are not alone in wondering about this. I have also posted this question, and asked it of my nutritionist. I generally have not gotten a lot of helpful answers - mostly just not to worry about it because this is a "non-counting" lifestyle. However, until I intuitively know what a normal amount of food is, and what a healthy diet looks like on a plate, I am going to count. So, here is what I have cobbled together from various sources and the guidelines I try to eat within.
Calories - 1300 (there is a calculator on thedailyplate.com where you can input your weight, activity level, and goal amount to lose each week and it will calculate daily calories for you)
Fat - I try to keep it less than 30 or so grams. This one is hard for me.
Carbs - 125 grams. I try not to eat too many junky "white" carbs.
Fiber - at least 25 grams.
Protein - at least 65 grams
My doctor says going off plan once a week is fine. I have read that a person can either live a low carb lifestyle or a low fat lifestyle without going insane, and I am not sure which one is for me, or if I need to adjust those numbers. But so far I am losing, so we'll see.
Good Luck!

Hi!
Sandy sent me a list and another friend looked through all of her band stuff and came up with almost exactly what you did, with on exception-- her dr. recommend 800-1000 calories when trying to loose and 1300 -14 for maintenance .
I find I have to count everything or I am not accountable- but that people seem not to know or care, I thought I was doing fine until I stopped loosing and basically I figured out I was not getting enough protein
Thanks for everything!
K
