I have my band!!!!!!
Hi Everyone and thank you for all the thoughts and prayers that went my way! I had my surgery (band over bypass) on Wednesday and I got home last night. I had to spend the night in order to have an upper GI yesterday morning just to make sure all was ok. I am really surprised at all the swelling I have. My hands, feet...well pretty much all over. I am drinking, but I don't think my voiding has caught up yet...I go in small amounts. I was wondering if any of you had the same experience. The gas rumbling around in my stomach is also quite a bit, but not too troubling. The two things I made sure to have with me were Gas-x strips and Burts Bees chapstick, and they both came in handy (thanks!). I ended up spending the night in the recovery roo, as there were no beds. I basically had a private nurse just for me. I am also amazed at all the IV fluids I got...of course that's part of the problem with all the swelling, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before everything goes back to status quo.
I am on Stage 3 foods...broth, protein shakes, Carnation Instant Breakfast, cottage cheese, egg beaters etc. I think I'll stay onfull liquids for a week or so before trying the eggs or cottage cheese.
Does it sound as though my experience is pretty typical so far?

Wishing you the best of success. Seems like you're on track for the band. If you like eggs and don't cook them exceptionally soft yourself, I would eat them in a couple of weeks in case your band does not allow you to eat eggs. JMHO.

Hello! Congratulations on your band. I also had to spend the night in the hospital. I came home with 10 extra pounds from all the swelling and fluids. I almost panicked! Luckily after a week or so it finally came off.
My pain was pretty manageable. I used my pain meds for about 3 days and then used it only at night for probably the first week. After that I felt pretty good. Hopefully your experience will be as good!
