My co-workers support my surgery.

I told my co-workers about my upcoming surgery yesterday.

We had a team meeting and I told them about it. They know I've been trying to lose weight for some time. As I told them yesterday "I'm bringing in reinforcements to help in the battle of the bulge".

It was nice to get the support.

20 more days until surgery. WOO HOO!!

That is great news!  It's nice to feel that love and support.  I hope you lean on them if you need it during the post op times.

Your getting so close!

I agree with Boo that having a the widest "net" of support as possible can't hurt. The same goes for having very clear goals for having surgery. Things like a mental image of what you'd like to look like when you reach your ideal body weight, activities you'd like to be able to do when you reach that weight and an ideal waist size can give you things to focus on as you embark on this journey.

Keep in mind that friend, family and co-workers can ask questions that sometimes seem like meddling but usually come from good intentions. I know that when I give in into temptation, it's handy to have people *****mind me why I embarked on my journey, what my life was like before I did and that I asked for their support when I was just starting out.

They don't have to be the food police about it... a gentle reminder can make all the difference sometimes. Hey, the surgeon is going to change your stomach size not how you think, what foods you crave or how you handle stressful situations. Trust me, I am still learning these lessons 3 years later. It's always good to have a support team!

Having reinforcements that consist of a surgical intervention will make a huge difference in your hunger level no doubt! Congratulations on making that first step. I think having additional troups that help keep you focussed on your mission will make you that much more successful at reaching your goals.

Good luck on your journey William. If you need anything, just ask. I am rooting for you!

THATS WONDERFUL! You will really need the support. I confided in 2 people at work. We have a really small team of 6 so I dont mind if they told eachother. I just didnt want to make a thing of it. Especially since at the time I was the only female on the team.

Now you have reason to yell at them all when they bring in bad treats to tempt everyone!

Good Luck to you!

Congrats William!  I have also told friends & family (stay at home mom, so no coworkers) and they've been really supportive too.  It works great to have that support when you need it!

WOOOHOOOO  I'm so excited for you. Remember when we were on pins and needles waiting to see if your insurance would approve your surgery?  Now look at you..just a matter of a 3 weeks.  I'm so happy your coworkers are supportive (or I'd have to come there and kick some of their butts for you).  :)

just repeating that is so wonderful to have a support team behind you. I chose to tell only a few of my closest friends, besides my dh & kids, but each of us needs to decide what will work best for our needs.

William, congratulations on your upcoming date!

Thank you all for your support. I do remember waiting to see if I would get approved and it happened so quickly.

I also got an email from one of my coworkers asking who my doctor is because he is interested in lap band surgery as well.

It's definitely an exciting time.
