WOW! I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm on day 3 of pureed foods and I will be sure to remember to chew! I have to remind myself to pay attention while eating even pureed stuff so I'll be prepared for the solids.

I am glad you are finally getting to feeling better...it does take you down sometimes. I have been there, where in serious pain and gasping for air as I am dry heaving and such. Afterwards it just feels like you have been hit in the chest/back with a truck. And chicken and brussel srpouts or other green veggies (green beans, asparagus) that are not mushy enough give me serious issues if I am tighter.I hope things continue to be better as your stomach recovers!

It's weird, but I can't eat brussel sprouts anymore at all, cabbage either.  It seems like it would go down fine, but I think it has something to do with the fibrous stem part.  I also don't do well with limp lettuces.  My dietician says she thinks they stick to the sides and don't do through the band.

When you are that stuck, try drinking some warm tap water.  Usually drinking after a stuck episode will flush the offending food up.  I much prefer that to waiting for it to digest enough to pass.

Lesson learned.  Hang in there!

Glad you a feeling better.....It is an awful feeling!  I can't eat lettuce, cabbage, spinach or brussel spouts anymore. ( I can still eat roasted brussel sprouts if they are crunchy!)  Ours bands are very fickle, I found that I can eat beef better easier than chicken just this weekend, I've been scared to try beef because I have trouble eating chicken I just figured that beef would be worst.

I was told, And it works, to sip room temperture pineapple juice when I have a stuck episode.  I got stuck eating a bite of roll and the pineapple juice helped!

Chew.....Chew....Chew!

Oh you poor thing. It really is the worst feeling. I'll never forget mine. And it happened to be on a 2 hour car trip with my Husband and two kids. No relief till we pulled into my neighbor hood and I could actually throw up...terrible. Glad you are feeling better. -Nikki

My first stuck was a cheese whiz sandwhich.  I was fairly newly banded and packed a picnic lunch, my 2 year old daughter and two shepherd dogs and headed out to a very private park.

Couple bites of my sandwhich and all was great so I wolfed down half of it like a 'normal' eater.  OMG! Huge Mistake! Imagine half a sandwhich jammed into your esophogas.  I was so stuck and in soooo much pain.  I thought I was going to die.  I also had to think about my daughter and who was going to rescue her after I passed out and what about the dogs?

I started throwing my chest against the playground like the heimlich and started to throw up a bit...  picture two 100 pound dogs then trying to mooch out your 'expenditures' and trying to act brave and like nothing is wrong to your concerned little girl.

What a nightmare.

I saw a nutritionist over the weekend in my surgeons office for tips on eating with the band that I will soon have. She suggested ten min before a meal to drink a warm liquid like hot tea or even just warm water with lemon. She said it relaxes the esophagus and helps your food go down easier.

This will not make you feel any better but I just had to post,
The WORST stuck episode I ever had was from eating brussell prouts....
I have not ate one since, its been about 3 or 4 months.  I think its the leafs
sticking, as they go down???   I think I did not CHEW mine good enough also.

Ugggh, sorry you had to go through that!  I had the same darn thing happen last week with Artichoke hearts!  I just had a .5CC unfill and haven't had trouble with anything, even bread or pasta.  I didn't think a thing of an artichoke and spinach casserole.  I was sitting there eating, got a soft stop, put my fork down and was RUNNING for the bathroom.  I literally got the chest pain and slimeys for the better part of an hour before even the water trick would work.  I couldn't even catch my breath in between the heaving.  I'll never do that again!!
