Just remember, you can still stretch your pouch eventhough you're looser.  That's what I think about, (constantly), especially when I've had an unfill or my band feel loose.  I understand you were too tight, but why don't you go back for a slight fill.  Have them pull out all the fluid and measure how much is in there.  My PA does that regularly so we can check to make sure there ar no leaks when I suddenly feel loose.  You do have a right to know!  Anyway, how long do they want you to rest your band?  Once when I was too tight I had to wait 2 weeks but if they weren't specific you should go get a slight fill of .2 or so.

I gained a lot of weight in those 2 weeks that I was unfilled because I was testing everything!  It's hard not to, but just keep in mind the potential damage you could be doing to your band via overfilling your pouch.  I ate a foot long subway sandwich when I was filled and boy did I regret that choice!

It's time for you to muster your strength and muscle through this period.  You might decide to give yourself one treat, like the hamburger, but after that, cut it off!  I don't want you to gain 16 lbs in 2 weeks like I did eating crap!  That was a while ago and I've lost it all plus more, but it's not something I want to do again.  It scared me to death!

Not to argue but how do you stretch out a pouch if your open. The food just passes through so no tension or pressure on the pouch is that not the case? I have wondered about this
 Start weight- 353
 Current- 253
 Goal- 215-220

Good question!  As I understand it, just having a gastric band around your stomach narrows the opening between the pouch and larger portion.  That's why some people can go a while without a fill becuase having the band alone will provide some restriction.  It would also depend on what you're eating and how much.  Solids, dense foods vs. sliders, etc.  Just imagine eating a footlong sub for instance.  That would take a while to go down and could stretch the pouch just from shear volume.  (I know becuase I ate one once when I had to get a total unfill).  Not a great idea and I paid the price!  Pain and a slight dialation, not just from that sub, but from abusing portion size over time, filled and unfilled.

Of course, like everything else, it depend on the individual.  Bottom line, why risk it?  It could mean losing our handy, dandy tool!

I just had a .5CC unfill a few weeks ago and did the same thing!  I made a decision to allow myself the indulgences for 10 days.  I had a couple of burgers (well make that about 1/3 of a burger each time) and 1/2 a sandwitch a few times, a hot dog on a bun, and a few other no-no's and then on Wednesday I buckled back down.  I did gain a few pounds (had surgery as well so I had a lot of fluid gain) but lost 6 of them in 2 days just from the water weight from the carbs in the bread.  I'm about 10 lbs over my low weight right now and I'd like to get off about 1/2 of it in the next few weeks.  I figure I'm human and indulgences are normal, so I counted the unfill as a "vacation" in the unbanded world.  I put a time limit on it, just like if I had taken a trip, and when it was over I went back to "work"!

hi there...

had the very same problem when I had my first fill. I had my surgery on the 4th of jan and got my first fill Jan. 27th.He  filled it 4 cc's and I felt nothin!! and i lost nothin!! Then my secon fill came on March 18th and I told him my concerns so he filled the band to 8cc's I thought I was gonna puke right there in the office I could barely get a sip of water down. So he adjusted it one cc and it was perfect. So from march 18th till June 2nd i lost 10 lbs which i know isnt alot but can u imagine if i had been adjusted properly from the first fill?

So he filled my band one cc on the 2nd of june and I gotta tell u it's tight!!!
I forget that i cant eat certain things and try anyway and end up feeling really sick
I had a couple of nacho chips and I got the slimy throw-ups...ewww gross

I suggest talking to ur doc more and getting the proper tightness for u to eat and still lose..

Hope that helps
