Actually the Sleeve is different because it changes the chemical makeup of the body which can actually help to change the metabolism, the band does not do that. My body makes less then half the hunger hormone it used to, I am no longer hungry (it might come back eventually, but for now I am seven months out and have to set a timer to remember to eat). The sleeve and the band might both be restrictive procedures, but the way they work in regards to weight loss is very different.

Also, even with the RNY you have a window that you have to work in order to get your weight off with the help of malabsorption and then you have to watch what you eat and exercise.

There are very few people in the world who can stay thin withou****ching what they eat and exercising WLS or not, WLS is not a miracle cure, some just make it easier to get to the finish line then others.

Well said. When i was researching the sleeve I read that they cut the portion of the stomach off that has the hunger hormone. I don't get extremely hungry with my band, but if i haven't eaten in a while, I do get pains and i have to eat. I'm glad your WLS is working for you! Good luck in your journey!

I started out with the Lap Band, then revised to the sleeve (well, it wasn't my choice to revise, although I am happy now that I had to), so I know how much work the band can be.

Do you track your food? We have a great little group of OHers over on myfitnesspal (sleevers and a few bandsters) and we all help each other with food ideas, tracking and exercise motivation. Feel free to send me a friend request over there, same screen name, and I will hook you up! It has serioulsy made my journey so much easier, having all those shoulders to lean on!

Weight loss is hard, no matter what.   If you didn't have WLS, and you were dieting on your own, you would know to watch what you eat (calories, carbs or whatever diet you choose) and exercise.  It's no different with the band.  You need to watch what you eat and get some exercise in each day.

Good luck on your journey back!!

Real quick--I have a treadmill that I use when its too cold or wet outside.  I have found it to be invaluable.  I bet you could find one on craigslist for a reasonable price!  Just slap on your IPOD or MP3 player and walk/run in the comfort of your home.  You'll be amazed how often you use it.

Thank you. I actually just sold my treadmill that i had for years and years as it was collecting dust. However, i do have a Kinect for the xbox and just bought the new Zumba disc, so i'm hoping to try that out as well. :)

Check out the "Just Dance" series too, they are SO fun that you don't even relize you are working out. Also, I started doing Kettle Bell workouts and use the Bob Harper DVD's, they are short and work you out HARD.

Well don't feel too bad, my Surgeon made sure that I was well educated and prepared and although I did well 90 pounds lost and kept it off for 3 years, I have since gained 27 from my lowest and are finding it hard to get the weight off even though I count calories and carbs.

My fill level isn't the same because of an unfill in November but still I know what to do and what not to.......... I wasn't hungry for so long with the band, then after the unfill I was hungry all the time.....I hate being hungry...add to that a groin pull and I was a disaster waiting to happen lol...

Of course I have started back and like I stated I am not having any luck....but I will keep trying different things till my fill level gets back to where I'm not hungry again.

The one good thing is that there are a lot of us that are starting over here together and the best thing is there is no time frame on how long we can lose weight with the band....

I am trying carb cycling now and starting back exercising as to not injure myself again.....so don't feel too bad at least you didn't know.

SORRY, YOU WILL GET NO FREE RIDE WITH ANY OF THE SURGERIES!  NOT EVEN THE DUODENAL SWITCH WITH A SHORT COMMON CHANNELWILL FIX A LAZY FOOL WHO DOES NOT FOLLOW THE RULES RIGHT FOR THEIR SURGERY.

Celtic Fairy, I love you so don't shoot me for using your some form of your words - see you are credited .  A lazy fool would benefit only from their esphogas being directly connected to their AssHole .  That would be magic!

Weight loss & maintainence  of a healthy body requires hard work our entire lifetime
