Like everyone else said...I have a 'smooshy' pillow that I stuff under my stomach and I kinda hug that so Im half on my side and half on my stomach. Thats working for me for now...but theres not much room for me, the pillow, DH and the cat! LOL
Good Luck.

I had a hard time choosing. My doc said they are basically the same. I said it was up to him to choose when he got in there. I have the new Realize-C band.
I do feel some restriction with no fill and I have been somewhat stuck....cause I was eating soft bread and not following the rules! I am three weeks out and ready for a fill.
Good Luck to you!

I have a question about potassium. I was banded on 24 Feb and am trying to get my exercise in, but I am having trouble with my legs cramping up badly. Im assuming that Im not getting enough potassium. Im taking my daily multivitamin (no potassium in there) and Viactiv (contains Vit K). Im also drinking my Atkins shakes (one a day). Sometimes I try to add 1/3 - 1/2 a banana to the shake and blend. Im just still cramping up too much and not getting much exercise in because of it. My legs are feeling sore...kinda like after you have a 'charlie horse'.
Last summer my PCP put me on Lipitor. I was actively attending the gym and was up to 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by 30 minutes on the elliptical. When I started on the Lipitor, I was exhausted and weak after the first 10 minutes. I stopped taking it for a while. Im now on Crestor and feeling better than with the Lipitor...but during that time I had stopped going to the gym.
Anyway...Im wondering if my potassium is too low or if it could be the statins? Any thoughts of how I can up my potassium?
My next appt is scheduled for 1 April and I have a message in with my nut...just looking for your thoughts. Thanks!

Today my goal is also to quit with the night time snacking and to MEASURE my food. Im not measuring...just eating a small portion. I know this is bad...but at least I actually have a nice digital scale right on the counter.
Kaytie....OH, I cant wait for COOKOUTS! LOL I enjoy throwing them over the summer. Still too cold here, but Im planning a nice spring one to break in the grill for Memorial Day. **YAY** I love playijng hostess! LOL

I would definately go thru your paperwork and see what foods you are supposed to be eating...did you meet with the nut before your surgery?
I was allowed to move to full liquid when I got home from the hospital...yogurt, pudding, shakes, jello...etc. I was told the first two weeks there were no set meal times, just get in what you can. It took me just over a wee****il I could finish a whole pudding cup at one time!
BUT...thats my experience...I would check in with your nut and see what stage you are exactly supposed to be in. I moved to soft protiens the day of my 2 week post op and I get to move to full solids on April 1st at my next check up.
I was lucky and didnt have much shoulder pain, mine was more in the 'flanks' area back/sides. I used a massaging heating pad. I think the massaging helped...kinda like burping a baby! LOL I understand you are still weak, but I spent alot of time pacing around my house. the second day I was home, I just fealt really bad. I wasnt sleeping and starting feeling flu like soreness and weakness. I got up to take my temp..it was ok. I paced around a little and in 5 minutes I felt GREAT...so try to walk as much as you can.
Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon!

That is SO funny! My first real 'food' was a tiny bowl of grits...with butter and salt and pepper. It was the most wonderful thing I had ever tasted! LOL

I have received the new Realize-C band. My question is...does anyone know how many cc's it holds? Im kinda confused between it being 4cc or 11cc??
I could call the doc, but I figured I'd ask first. Thanks.

LOL...really, I'll catch up soon!

We were banded the same day...Im down 10 **Jealous** LOL

I spent the entire year last year making it my year to get healthy and lose weight. I dieted, wrote down everything, quit smoking, joined a gym and got a personal trainer. I tried The Biggest Loser, Atkins and My Weight Doctor (phentermine). by the end of the year...I GAINED 40 lbs. Everyone saw how hard I was working...and I got nowhere.
So, Im now 2 weeks post op and I have my fingers crossed that this will work.
I wish you the very best. Please keep us updated on your progress and please dont lose all hope.

I am currently facing a life changing crisis as well as trying to recover from surgery. I have to say that now that I am feeling good and am able to eat soft solids...I am missing food. I miss medicating myself with food and Im kinda feeling lost...I dont know what to do with myself right now. I am really working on keeping myself busy. Not to mention...Im Hungry! LOL
I have lost weight once before...never made it to onederland...but close. Im READY. I didnt have so much of that fat girl in my head as I had...woah...Ya cant tell me CRAP now...Watchout! LOL Im ready to feel like that again!

But, as always, you may want to ask your nut.

Hope this helps. I have compared it to several other calculators and they all seem similar:

Did you get any type of pre-op orders yet? I was told specifically not to take BC, motrin, tylenol etc for two days before my surgery. I was allowed to take prilosec and cholesterol meds the morning of surgery. I would definately call and ask. These recommendations came from the nurse who admitted me...I met with her just over a week before surgery.
Good Luck!

To make matters worse...Im self pay so Im screwing up something I am paying for, for the next 5 years!
Sorry to be soo whiney...LOL just need some good 'ol reality.

I had a very emotionally straining day/evening yesterday. Im currently going thru issues (long story) and the surgery has helped keep my mind off everything. Last night I just wanted to eat. I didnt eat NEARLY as much as I could have or wanted. However, I did eat too much. Im just two weeks post op today and lost my mind. I kept telling myself to stop...but if I could listen to myself I wouldnt have needed this in the first place. I know Im only supposed to be eating 2oz at a time now...but I beat that. I didnt eat it all at once so hopefully I didnt do any real damage.
Please remind me...I know I could be pushing a slipped band, but the food is going down since I dont have any fills yet.
Thanks for listneing...

I had my first post op appt this past Thursday. It was pretty un-eventful. I met with the nut to discuss moving to soft protiens. We had already met so I already had menus planned out and talked about if I was having trouble and getting my protien in.
I met with the doc. He pretty much just asked how food/drink was going down and looked at my incisions. He was going to take off my steri strips, but apparently mine are SUPER sticky and they refused to let loose! They finally eased off yesterday...12 days post op.
My doc does the first fill about 8 weeks out. I go back on April 1 and hopefully will be able to at least schedule my fill.
Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Ive been on full liquids since Ive been home so Ive been having yogurt, strained soup, pudding, jello and such already.
Looking forward to eggs or FF refied beans with salsa and sour cream...lol Im also craving french onion soup! LOL

Hey Denise!
I was banded just a day before you! Im still having a hard time getting in all my protien and liquids. Ive been trying but havent had any appetite...Until Today. Now Im hungry and want to eat something...actually chew it up! LOL
I have my post op appt today and will meet with the Nut and move to soft/solid mushies.
I was told that all of the liquids count toward your total liquid for the day...so add everything you drink. at least thats what MY nut says.
I only get the occasional rumble and it is something new, never felt that type of rumble before, so sorry, cant help you there! LOL
Good Luck!

Wow, that looks so good! Today is the first day I am feeling actually hungry since surgery and seeing those photos have really made me ready to find some soup for lunch! LOL
I LOVE to cook and I have to say Im not too bad at it! LOL Not sure how Im going to handle the cooking now that Im living alone and dont have a family to feed anymore...but at least it is something I enjoy. I'll just start having dinner parties! LOL
Keep up the good cooking!
Mary

Years ago I also took a cardio kickboxing class at a karate place. It was way more physical than the boxing. There was also alot more equipment to work with. There is nothing like punching the HECK out of that giant bag as a stress reliever.

Ive been on full liquids since leaving the hospital. I am 8 days post op today and literally just now feeling hungry. Since you are having trouble with the milks, have you maybe tried a different protien like the isopure punch or something else?
I was told pretty much sugar free puddings and low sugar yogurt. I dont really remember discussing particular calorie counts, but then again a BIG meal for me is to actually finish a whole small jar of yogurt! LOL I cant finish the Campbells soups to go I picked up and they were recommended by my NUT.
I get to start mushies tomorrow after my post op appt. I cant wait. Im dying for some French Onion soup with the mushy crouton on top....but I wonder about the cheese...could that pass as mushy? LOL

Craaazzzyyy! Its awful when you cant even speak about helping children with cancer. I didnt think you were pushing anything on me when I read it!
If you dont like the post....dont read it. If you dont like the tv show or movie...don****ch it. If you dont like whats on the radio...dont listen to it, but dont take away MY OPTION to read it, listen to it or watch if if I WANT to!
Sorry...

HI!
Today I am 8 days post-op. I dont think the pain was as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didnt have the shoulder/gas pains...thankfully.
I wanted to go home the same day, but my surgery had gotten pushed bac****il the afternoon that day and I had to stay the night. Im GLAD I did end up staying. It was nice to have someone help me get up to walk and go to the bathroom but by the next day I was fine to do it on my own. I think it was the pain meds that made me too woozy to do it on my own.
The WORST pain I had were TOM cramps I take Seasonale bc's for about 6 years now so I havent really had TOM in that long. I had to stop taking my bc pills 2 days before surgery so of course I started the day after surgery. The next two days the cramps were terrible...worse than anything from the surgery.
I just came back to work yesterday and I am having pain in the port site...I understand that is the biggest incision in the middle, kinda under the ribcage. But its not bad. I also had a reaction to the dilaudid I was given, apparently Im allergic! So im just taking liquid tylenol. Also, last night was the first night I was able to sleep on my side. It had felt like the darn thing was gonna rip out unless I laid on my back.
Im kinda slow picking things up off the floor too, but I had no problem sweeping (didnt want to try to shovel) the foot of snow of my staircase and deck and getting my car cleaned off after our little blizzard! LOL
anywhoo, sorry I was so long winded...just sharing my experience.
