If anyone is looking for a therapist in Montgomery county, I'm actually taking new clients. I've done a lot of my research on health psychology & am licensed in Maryland (LCPC). Some insurance companies seem to prefer psychologists or psychiatrists for the psychological evaluation, so keep that in mind if you're looking.
Here's my website FYI : http://www.farriscounselingservicesllc.com

Good luck to all from someone in the middle of the process too!

Well, here is the egg report! :) l It was delicious! I wasn't very hungry but I knew I would be later, so I had a 1 egg omelet with a tiny bit of egg beaters mixed in and a little bit of light shredded cheese. I felt restriction not too far in and didn't finish the whole thing. The hardest part for me is not drinking, but I didn't drink anything. At 8 months I definitely feel restriction on a regular basis, but this was tighter than usual and closely following the rules regarding drinking and eating for only 15 minutes helps me attack the sliders issue (or rather, it keeps me from eating again once there' room in my pouch). This was a great idea.

I'm not down anymore weight today, but that's ok with me. I like the renewed sense of control. I will post at the end of the day. Fish tonight! Yey!

Actually, it's law in Maryland that WLS surgery is covered by all insurance if you meet the NIH criteria for each surgery (e.g. BMI requirements, comorbidities, 6mo weight loss MD supervised, etc). So if the insurance company policy does not gel with what MD state law is, you can go to the Insurance Board and consult/complain. http://www.mdinsurance.state.md.us/sa/jsp/Mia.jsp

I'd heard Shady Grove Adventist did their support group on Thursdays at 6:30p but nothing's been posted on their classes website since December & can't get anyone to return my calls (bari program nor classes info #) so I can't promise that it's an active support group. Looking for one close by too & HC doesn't work w/ my schedule.

Hi! I'm glad to hear from another patient. I'd heard that about Dr. Greene - there's also Dr. McKenna at SGH but his normal office is in Frederick I think.
I'd been leaning towards just sticking it out with Dr Long too. It's not just the money investment but the time & effort that really causes one pause to shift in mid-stride.
What Sinai explained to me is that, once you call them and give them your info as a Dr Long patient, they'll send you a packet of info to fill out. Yep, more papers! They told me it's necessary to meet with their nutritionist, Kate, even if you'd done your work with Mandy at SGH. However, they told me you don't have to pay AGAIN as they'll waive the fee for their nutritionist. Hmmmm.... skeptic in me doubts that's how it will really pan out. I'd been playing phone tag to set up my consult with their nutritionist. Anyway, also will need a letter of recommendation from your PCP and have ALLLL of your records forwarded over to Sinai. They included a release of info from Dr. Long's "office" to Sinai in my packet, so hopefully all records will translate well & be legal. Just to be safe, I'll probably contact all my doctors all over again to have them forward my info. Better to have duplicate info than have them say "oh, you got denied because you didn't do X,Y,Z".
I'll probably keep w/ Dr. Long too just because of the committment & I'm rather stubborn when I set my mind on something. I actually lost 23 lbs in the whole process (YIPEEE), and haven't cheated during the holidays - surprising even myself!
I'm glad to hear from you & keep me updated on how you're doing on the weight loss. Thanks so much for the info on MoCo drs!

Girl if I had to do two weeks of shakes pre op I would have chewed my arm off! lol

I know what you mean about the afternoon and evening struggle. But if you do the diet for another 5 days startung monday you will see that that feelong goes away as well.

I can't wait to here about your morning breakfast and the feeling of restriction.

Take care,

Cira

I can imagine how frustrating this can be. I am sorry that you have to deal with this situation.

Not much of an advice here. Just wanted to say to do all the research you need to do to figure out what you should do.  If you go to another surgeon you will have to follow their program see their nutritionist as well and some you have to pay a program fee.

Wishing you all the best in your journey.
