C.W. Guess, M.D.

Has anyone met this doctor?   Dr. Guess and Dr. Jiminez seem to be the only two surgeons in my area.  I've met Dr. Jiminez...he was okay but not all that great so I'm looking for someone else.

I’m also from the Caribou/Presque Isle area and they are the only two doctors in the area the next closest place is Bangor .

I have never met Dr. Guess (is he still up here??), but I do know Dr. Jiminez. He certainly does not have the best bedside manner, but he is a good surgeon. He doesn't have the experience the the doc's downstate do. It is absolutely imperative that you are comfortable with the surgeon you pick, so if you are not comfortable with the two locally....definitely have your PCP refer you to EMMC, CMMC or MMC. You can get references on any of these programs from multiple folks on this site. EMMC and MMC are both bariatric center's of excellence (only 20 in the country and we have 2 of them!!) Give the local doc's a fighting chance, but if you are uncomfortable, you have every right to request a different surgeon....it is your body and your life. Kim

Wow, that was a good question...is Dr. Guess still around? I looked on this site to see what drs were in the state and Dr. Guess showed up as a Presque Isle doctor.  I just looked at the State of Maine physician search and it shows Dr. Guess liscense lapsing in 2004.  So it looks like the only doctor around here is Dr. Jiminez.
