We have been homeowners for 5 years now...and seriously know nothing about it.  I wonder if we should be shoveling our roof.  I haven't noticed any leaking or anything.  We have a cape and a pretty good pitch.

we also have a cape and have been in it for 20 years, but they are all different, ours had very poor insulation so the heat would go through the roof and melt the snow, so we didn't have to go up and shovel it often, but we got a roof rake and did the edges cause of icicles and it would leak on our ceiling.  but now, all is good with our new metal roof, well so far. hehe, dont' want to talk too fast.  I can't believe what happend at the walmart distribution center.  Man, that was new??

We have a metal roof all around but the back side of our house is built into the ground. So the snow has not come off that side the way it did on the front. And yay our roof rake is covered by snow imagine that.

WE have had to clear some of the snoe to avoid the ice backing things up, plus i was a little worried about a couple of windows on the first floor, would the snow break them?? So DH is working on whatever is the most pressing, thank God for DH!! Oh metal all around, so most is sliding off, and then creating these huge, cover the window piles!!

Hubby has shoveled our roof 3 times. We've been in our house since 1995 and this year ice built up and water leaked in through the top of the livingroom windows all over my new wood floors, hubby was up there that night shoveling. lol I wasn't happy. Since then he's shoveled 2 more times, to keep it clear. I've never seen snow like we've gotten this year and I was born and raised here in Oxford, Maine.  ~dori~

We live in a cape and so far, so good. The wind blows so much up here on the hill that we hardly ever have snow to worry about.   Good luck to everyone else though!
