sipping

Hi everyone!  Just a silly question....I've noticed that the past couple of days I've been able to sip a little more and get my fluids in a little quicker without making the pouchy grouchy.  I know the swelling is going down, but I guess I just thought it would take longer before I could take bigger sips (I'm not gulping fluids, by any means...it's just the sips are bigger and I can get my fluids in faster.)   Any feedback would be SOOO appreciated!  Thanks!

Ruth, I know my pouch is different, but I'm not sipping... i'm not getting in enough liquids and if i sipped i'd never get any in. one hour before and after, gee, no problems with a groucy pouch except for it wanted a whole pizza....

I haven't noticed it getting any easier but could be because I had open RNY too.   my pouch still is grouchy. Sounds like your doing great.

It got easier and easier for me.  At night now I can have a large decaf iced coffee (and they are big) while watching my shows from 89-9:30ish.  I can take some pretty big gulps too working out with no issue.  I don't even think about my fluids much now.  I could get them all in by 1pm if I wanted too.  So it gets much easier.

Glad to hear it's pretty normal......I guess I just thought it would take longer before the sips could get bigger!  It IS much easier to get the fluids in already though (not as easy as it will be later, but better than right after surgery!)  Thanks!!!!

Hi Ruth, No question is silly!!!  Yup, it gets easier and I think I was about 10 months out and noticed I was drinking pretty much normally.  I still don't use a straw or sippy type bottle.  I can drink a large coffee in about an hour.  I don't have an issue getting in fluids at all anymore ~ besides the fact that I drink way too much coffee and not enough water   But I still make sure to get in the recommended 45-60 waters plus my coffee. Have a great evening!!!
