Dr. Toder touched on the subject at support group the other nite.!!!
she said if you stop breathing after surgery in recovery and they put masks on you and you wake up it is a real scary situation. Therefore she recommends that you do use it and bring it with you to the hospital. It is something your body gets use to using even if for only a little while.
If your oxygen levels drop then you run risk of heart attack as you get older. and high blood pressure.
The other thing that she said was that if you are in a car accident and they find out you have sleep apnea and they pull the card from the machine and you are not using it then your liability insurance is null and void and they dont cover you. So just a thought to think about before someone says they are not using there machine. I do use mine to start ever nite when it wakes me up i take it off i strive for 4 hours a nite which is suppose to be the minimum that you are to use it. I will be glad and hope when my pulminologist does another sleep study that i wont need it and my oxygen levels dont fall from holding my breath.
So like everyone else i think it is a big pain in the butt but i drive for a living and need to keep my license so i am compliant as i can be and wish i could wear it longer
Have a great day
