Liquid protein problems

I am on day 5 of this liquid protein diet and I'm having some issues that I hope some of you may be able to help with.  First I have had a headache since Monday night and I can't seem to shake it and Tylenol is not touching it.  My other problem is the nausea I feel it in my throat the minute I smell or think of drinking another shake.  They taste good and I didn't have a problem with them at the beginning of the week but they turn my stomache now.  My other problem is... lets just say liquid in and liquid out.  I actually cheated last night and had some chicken broth, it was the best broth in the world, who would of thought I would be so excited to drink broth, I'm only suppose to have 5 protein shakes a day and all the NO calorie liquids I want but I couldn't help it, I felt like I wa****ting rock bottom and I broke and had the broth, it was only 10 calories for the entire can so it can't be that bad, can it?  I know the sodium is high but I just needed something warm to eat (drink).  I know you have all been through this or some of you at least and I sound like a big baby but this is really hard.  I commend each and every one of you out there who has been through this, I just can't wait to be on the losers bench.  Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Wow Doreen, no wonder you have nausea!! 5 a day!! Man! That is a lot.  I was allowed 2 slim fast a day and for dinner we could have a lean cuisine or WW meal for my pre-op diet. After my surgery, I couldn't stand the smell of the protein shakes. So I can understand what you are going through now.  Also I could have low-sodium broth and all the raw veggies (including pickles) that we wanted throughout the day. I lost 12 lbs doing that.  I don't think you really need to worry. You are bound to lose enough weight to satisfy your surgeon.

This part is definately one of the hard parts - for me more than the nausea, I was hungry all the time, but at least I was allow jello and broth. I know it's tough, but it's just for two weeks - you can do it!

The headache may be coming from your body "de-toxing" from carbs or maybe some low blood sugars or ???

What kinds of protein drinks are you having?  Fruity? Chocolatey?  Maybe try them in a covered cup (coffee mug or kids sippie cup) so you won't smell them before you drink them?   Have you tried the Unjury Chix soup protein drink? I loved that stuff immediately post op as the fruity protein drinks just didn't "do it" for me!  I have some left if you want to try some and are local (it's an open jar, but just sitting here....I don't use it anymore) pm me if you're intrerested.......

I gotta give you credit!!!!  I, luckily, didn't have to do the 2 weeks pre-op and I've said time and again......I REALLY admire those of you that do!!!!!   I totally feel for you!!!!!

Good luck and please keep us posted!!!!!!    Ruth

Corinne told me to find one and stick to that one for the 2 weeks so that I'm having the same amount of carbs & calories each day, I'm drinking Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein, Chocolate.  I used to love chocolate but let me tell you know I can't stand the thought of it.  I did buy the same brand but in Strawberry, YUCK, did not like it.  I have not tried anything else besides this one for now.  I have tried various pre-made protein drinks and those are even worse and I do have an unflavored one at home that I got.  I kind of sick of the sweet tasts, even crystal light is too sweet now, I have to dilute it.  I have pre-admissions testing tomorrow and I have go to the office before so I'm anxious to see if I've lost any weight.  I have been craving a tuna fish sandwich, is that crazy, not pizza, chinese or mexican or any grand meal just a measly little tuna fish sandwich, lol.
Thanks for all the support, I really appreciate it and don't know what I would do without all of you here.

Some of my favorites the EMMC program allows during the 2 weeks pre and 2 weeks post op  are/ were:
Carnation sugar free instant breakfast- chocolate
Slim fast high protein- chocolate
Low fat fruited yogurt w/ 2 Tablespoons of powdered milk added
Healthy request creamed soups made with skim or 1% milk- 8 oz serving.
Unjury pumpkin pudding
Banana unjury shake-tried that today for the first time- yum

I have also found that doctoring up the yucky protein powders I bought with a splenda-mocha packet and a spoonful of instant coffee in a drop of ho****er added isn't too bad. Like a mocha-latte something.
We have to do 3 full servings for mealtime and 2 half servings for snacks plus all the 0 calorie drinks, diet jello, SF popsicles you want.
Broth- that's not cheating! Salty, but little to no calories.
Are you a coffee drinker- it could also be caffein withdrawl- which isn't fun. I continued to do coffee up until surgery and suffered 2 days of coffee withdrawl with jus****er post surgery

Good luck. My worst day was day 2- my head hurt, my body/brain was protesting no more chewing. Popsicles are good to get the chewing in.  After that it was easy sailing.

For me the goal was to shrink my liver and have lap surgery- It worked! no Zipper on my belly.
