did you know?
I just got off the phone with the insurance person at Dr. Trieu's office and I was correct about Medicare would only cover surgery if it was at a hospital that had been deemed a Center of Excellance. That is EMMC and Portland hospital. Once again, I have been rejected from surgery. I have a partial coverage from Maine carebut only the part that covers coinsurances and deductibles. I guess I am back to square one with no surgery for me. I can still try to lose close to 100 lbs and go back and try EMMC again in 20 years. I am sad.
Well, yes Maine Med is a Center of Excellance. For now going to Portland so many times is not feasible for my husband and I financially. I understand what you are saying completely. My belief is that this is God's answer to my question about having surgery now. The door has been shut. I have just had to change everything about my eating because of my diabetes not under control and being put on insulin, so at this point I am feeling like I am suppose to keep doing what I am doing and try to lose the weight EMMC wanted me to and then go back to them. It is closer to home and less expensive and I won't have to come up with the program fee Augusta charges. So, 100lbs from now I might actually be able to have surgery. Thank you for asking. Bobbi

I'm sorry this didn't work out for you. This process can be full of ups and downs, and nothing I can say will really make this less disappointing. I do have this theory that the harder you have to work to get the surgery, the better chance you have for success in the long run. What kind of support do you have to help you with the weightloss you need to do to qualify for surgery?
I agree. When you find yourself at stumbling blocks, or trying too hard to make something work it isn't meant to be.
Do you have regular appointments with the EMMC nuts? They are a wonderful resource and can help you as you loose to get to surgery weight.
Wishing you the best in this journey.
