lack of food choices

Im bumbed... i came to school prepaired (breakfast + protein shake) and with the plan of eatting soup for lunch on my break between classs... and it is tomato.... which in itself wouldn't be bad, BUT there is no protein source and anything else that they have (ie salad/have something cooked) are no where close to the diet needs... even the "protein" bar that they had was 240 calories and only 14 protein (and "fruity" BARF!!)... just barly half of what it should be... so i just opted to have diet ice tea and pout...  thought about getting a milk but they don't have skim (just whole and chocolate l/f) and i would be hungry soon after...    What do you guys do when you are hungry (does anyone else get hungry yet??) and there are no "good" choices??  I am doing great for my diet and don't want to loose what i have gained...

Sorry to hear there are no good choices for you today.  I ALWAYS carry one of my own protein bars in my purse or car!  I never take a chance that there might not be something I can eat.  (I'm kinda picky too!)    Do they have any kind of sandwiches that you could pick the meat out of?
Hope you can find something!
Good luck!

RNY on 11/21/07 with
14 protein in a bar is not bad  that is  equivalent to    two  eggs  or two glasses of milk.
that would of been the better choice of all of it.

I  can always drink milk  and i do  drink  2 percent so i could of got by with regular milk.    Ruth is right  when she says she carries  her own bars i always have one or two  tucked  in bus or in bag

have a great day

Let's see:

chef's salad?
salad bar with cottage cheese or cheese for protein- skip the creamy dressings
Cheese and fruit?

Usually there's a protein bar and some crystal lite single packs buried in the bottom of my pocketbook. Opps- no protein bar now- thanks for the reminder.

I know how hard it is to pack a lunch and take it to school, currently I am in the middle of doing an internship, working, and taking three classes.....so I am always grabbing something like cheese...Cracker Barrel has individually wrapped sticks, yogurt, and Slim-Fast are all floating around in the car or in my pocketbook....chef salad is another choice...the eggs and cheese are excellent, but stay away from the creamy dressings...ranch is my downfall....and the crystal light is another thing....I think I own stock there!!!!  Drink as much as you can, I know it is hard...but you can do it!!!!

It can be a pain and does take planning, but like the others I always have something like a protein bar or cheese stick wherever I go. On the rare occasions that I don't I just try to make the best choices I can and eat lightly, I do get hungry and if Iet myself get too hungry - that's when I have trouble controlling myself.

I ened up being ok. I drank my diet tea and chatted with friends in the lounge until my next class.... which ironicly we had a "field trip" lab to the food bank.... making me think about how lucky i was that i have good healthy food available to me when i need/want it...
