Sleep habits before and after surgery

Do you find your sleep habits to be significantly different after surgery? For all of my life before surgery I loved to sleep late on the weekends - like to 9 or 10 instead of my 7am go to work alarm buzzing time to get up....and I never woke up on my own - always had to have the alarm.

Now....most workdays I wake up shortly before my alarm goes off and on weekends I can't sleep in anymore.

I'm wondering if these changes relate to not eating refined carbs anymore? I have a friend who hasn't had wls, but has been motivated and supportive of me by losing 50 lbs and changing his eating habits to be similar to mine and he's been finding his sleeping habits to have changed like mine as well. (and no - it's not a sleep at my house kind of friend - so it's not my sleeping affecting his)

Yep I've noticed that I do not require as  much sleep as I use to.  I wake up a few times a month at like 3 in the morning after going to bed at 10 or 11 and can't go back to sleep.  On a daily basis I'm usually up at 5 or 5:30 without the alarm...alarm is set for 6.

significantly different...??
what an understatement !!
this morning for instance...I went to bed at 3:55am and was wide awake at 7:41...
I don't feel tired at all...but just a pain in the butt...would enjoy sleepin' in a bit on a Saturday morning with no alarm !!
and then Monday morning rolls around...alarm set for 4:45 and I'm usually awake at least 30 mins. before the alarm goes off...
welcome to the wonderful world (after) WLS

You mean there is hope?  I need so much sleep and DS doesn't let me get as much as I need or as much as I'd like.  I would be so happy to only need as much as I am getting now.  One more thing to look forward to!

I'm not as tired now.

Prior to surgery I was always tired. I could nap away the weekend. Now I sleep in on Saturday or Sunday. Sleeping in i intil 7AM rather than the weekday 5:15 AM. It used to be I would sleep in until 11 or so. Not any more.

I'm going today for an evaluation of my cpap machine use. I'm hoping to find I don't need as high a pressure or that I don't stop breathing as often and should be medically evaluated ( sleep study) to see if I don't need it anymore.

I'm not needing as much sleep as I used to either!  It's ALL good, right?

A few summers ago I put myself on a carb controlled diet and I would wake up refreshed early in the morning instead of sleeping the morning away like I do now without and alarm I could sleep till noon. (well if I didn't have two yapping pomeranians....)

I find that i"m not always as tired as long as i am healthy. Since my second surgery and not slowiing down I am tired, but i know that there is hope around the corner. cause once i catch up on my sleep and am healthy again i wont need as much. I go to bed at 9 and up without the alarm on weekends and with the alarm a few days a week

Hopefully you should be turning that corner soon to feeling better! I can't imagine going through what you have and having the responsibility of your young children as well.
