Wondering wrong advice given??
I to have been reading on the other site about all the RYN's need calcium citrate I got some today BUT Why was I not told this 2 1/2 years ago The same reason that one of the NUT's told me when I ate 1 cup of chicken salad to have 1/2 that on whole wheat bread. Dr Clough nearly FELL OVER. He said they told you to EAT BREAD. He said well that was wrong. Well why is mis information given in the first place ????????
Sorry if that sounds harsh but I have talked to so many that "after care and after info" is NOT GOOD .

It's amazing how different surgeons and nutritionists will tell us each different things and have different guidelines. That's why it's so hard for all of us to share information as all of our surgeons have different requirements post-op. I guess, if something doesn't seem "right" with what the "nut" has told you, it's always best to ask the surgeon.
It IS kinda odd that they wouldn't be giving the same info though....

You would think that the programming would be more consistent...even throughout the state. I have seen so many different programs since I have been on here I can't count them. What foods people are allowed before/after and even during the hospital stay. Even vitimins are different so like Ruth said it is very difficult to offer advice to others looking for it and then when it is given not to upset someone else who does it differently.
Sometimes you just need to do the leg work on your own, take everything into consideration, and make the best possible choice for you regardless of the programming etc!

Here ya go - here's a difference - whole wheat bread is ok for me per the diet in my binder. Same medical practice - different surgeon. I know your doc's diet does vary from all the other docs in that group - not sure why - couldn't get a good answer when I asked.
It's crazy - my blue binder has different info than a friend who had the same surgeon 6 months before me - how do we keep up?
I at this point listen to what my aftercare program says, read other medical sites and follow long term people who I feel are successful and healthy and adapt the best from what i believe after reading.
