Well, I have just received my sleep study results and here they are. I slept for 4.4 hours and had a 169 episodes in that short period of time. The nurse said that on a couple of occasions I stopped breathing for 45 seconds.  SO now I have to go back in tonight for another sleep study (woa is me) and try to sleep with all of the wires plus the CPAP machine.  She swears up and down that I will be able to sleep better with this machine....so we will see.

I am sorry you have to go thru this. It can't be fun. I hope the machine helps you sleep better, and that you are able to sleep tonight with all the wires hooked up to you.

Good Luck

Hello.. I had to go to the sleep center at MMPC 3 times.  First was just the normal sleep test at night with all the wires a crap.. then I had to go back about a month later and sleep again at night and then the next day!!!!!  I had to take 4 naps durring the day one hour apart and half hour each nap.  I thougt for sure I could not go to sleep with in a half hour.  Sure enough, each "nap" I went to sleep within 6 minutes and the last "nap" i fell into "REM" sleep in thirty six seconds.  Yes I said 36 seconds.  That told him that I have Narcolopsy.. and Now am on Ritalin daily too keep me from falling asleep at work, and or driving.  Fun Fun... Just thought I would share my experience. Thanks Jodi :O)

First a small rant here....forgive me.    The folks that do my sleep study right from the very begining.  They were told by Dr if she stops breathing x amount of times.  Wake her up and put her on c-pap machine....which they did.   Having to stay there once is bad enough but twice for the same diagnosis is ridiculous and money wasting!    There got that out. Ok now for the c-pap...I have been using one now for dang almost 5 yrs.   I can not in all reality fall asleep without it.   My body will no longer do it!    It will take awhile (a couple of months even) to get used to your machine.   Make sure the mask they give you fits right and does not "leak"  at every  little move you make.  I went through 3 masks before I found the one that worked best for me.  I gave each mask 3 week trial period so that everyone would know that I had tried.  Insurance picked up the cost all you need is your supplier to contact your Dr with the info and he can write new script for the new mask. The other thing I can tell you is that wow that first nights sleep!  I woke up rested....not at all tired.  I slept through the night...I hadn't done that in a very long time!  Give it a chance and even if it seems like a pain in the A$$ sometimes....your c-pap can be your best friend! Good Luck

I have had a C-pap for almost 4 years.  I had a lot of the same results as you.  The difference is that they woke me up in the middle of the night and put a c-pap on me right away.  I left the next day with a brand new machine and mask.  It took awhile to get used to it.  After I got used to it I couldn't sleep without it.  Now that I have had my surgery I don't need it anymore. But I still turn on the machine every night just for the sound. I sleep so much better with the sound of the machine.

Good Luck

Well, I'm finally home! It wasn't as bad as the first time. I actually slept pretty much most of the night. The only thing is the mask. I think that it was a little bit too big. He put a medium on so I don't know if a small will fit or not. But I will try to see what ever one works. So hopefully I can get used to it and sleep much better than I already thought I do. (I know that sounds funny). I never knew I had any type of sleep problems, so if it will help me get approved, then so be it.
