Hi Marsha! I live in Gaylord and have been looking for a group nearby that meets consistently. Hutchinson would be great! Saturday mornings work the best for me but some weeknights may be do-able as well. Looking forward to meeting some new people in the new year!

Okay, good.

Refried bean, taco meat, broth based soup with added rotiesserie chicken or unflavored protein powder safe for heat, etc. are a couple good staples from those days. I remember if things were moist, I tolerated it better. Tuna with mayo. Etc. Some people will say mashed potatoes and stuff like that, but I caution you due to the carbs. Just remember, this whole phase is temporary in the grief & loss department. Meaning you will be absolutely down about not being able to eat a whole lot at a time, or things may taste pretty blah, but it's temporary. Eventually, you'll get back to a better place with your food.

No clue what Dr. Rupp's plan looks like, but you should be good with small bites at a time and take your time eating each bite. Start to pay attention to things like whether or not your nose starts running...that was always a good indicator to me of getting "full". Just start to be in tune with your body and listen/watch for your signals. And above all else at this stage of the game, make sure you're getting tons of fluids in so you stay hydrated. Dehydration is your worst enemy right now.

You had the VSG...so you have a "sleeve", not a "pouch". Just want to make sure you know you did not have a RNY. Sorry - I'm a big believer in getting the terminology right. At least I pray that if you believe you have a VSG that you in fact do. There's always a post op report available to you to be sure.

Also, Dr. Rupp's office should have a nutritionist or two or more on staff to help you with these exact questions. And if you feel you're getting RNY diet information, be clear with them on which procedure you had.

Best of luck!

Hi Nicole, welcome "home" - I remember you.

Have not been through what you have so no words of wisdom other than the old standby's...protein firs****er, and exercise. Focus on losing one bad habit at a time and do not give into the old negative self talk that can surround the bad habits.

Keep that baby as your primary focus for getting back on track now. She deserves a healthy, happy mama!

All the best to you! Stay active on the board, it is good to have you back.

Sorry I  know it is not what you want to hear but there is no magic pill for weight loss your going to have to make time for a execise program of some kind.
Plus, you will have to watch what you eat, Your tool will still be there  but your going to have to use it.  You might have to go back to your post surgery diet for a while if you have developed bad habits.

Hope it helps and good luck,

Dave

Hello beautiful lady! I came here tonight on a whim haven't been here in forever, and there you were. I wish I were coming back to MN but since that isn't going to happen I figured this group was the next best thing. Cant believe it has almost been 5 years  since surgery. Sure miss you ladies from the St. Cloud area and look forward to catching back up and supporting each other and others in the struggle to maintain or get back on track!
