Topic: SWAPKINS - November 12 tentative No location yet.
After Halloween, before Black Friday and in time to get rid of and pick up winter clothes, holiday cute stuff, and winter weather gear.
Put that bag in the bottom of your closet to collect all the stuff you shouldn't be wearing anymore. When you are loosing, you really should be letting go of things that are too big.
Make sure the clothes you're giving up are in good condition, clean, and size is identifiable.
When you arrive, please place your clothes on the marked table with the appropriate size, then "shop" the tables that have clothes in your size.
No money is exchanged, everything is free. Anything brought to Swapkins and left over will go to charity (battered women's shelter, other suggestions are welcome). Everyone who brings clothes to share will get a free giant IKEA bag to bring your new goodies home.
Accessories, bags and shoes are welcome, but only if they are in clean and in good shape.
I know it's getting close to the holidays and some of you are crafters. You may bring your hand made items to sell. There will be limited space for you to display yor items. You must arrive early, tend your products, handle your own money, and clean up. Anything you'd like to sell must be cleared by me - Jen Fairchild - before you can sell.
This event will be held in the Twin Cities area. I don't have a location yet. If you have a location suggestion, please post it here.
Please also respond if you are interested in participating/attending. This is a very successful event and always more so if we have lots of people coming. ALL are welcome, not just WLS folks. Tell your friends and family. All sizes of clothing are welcome. This means men's stuff too.
We haven't swapped kids/teens clothes. If there is enough interest, we can make it formal and I'll include it in the formal announcements. If you have teen/kid clothes you'd like to swap/donate, bring them. These will also be swap-able. Reply to this message if you want to swap kids clothes. Any leftover kid clothes will also be donated.
Let me know if you have any questions. I will update SWAPKINS on the board as details shake out.

Topic: RE: Need opinions on surgeons
I have had a great experience with Park Nicollet in St. Louis park. The staff and Dr. Jones are wonderful! I would also recommend "shopping" around. I also had a VSG.
Topic: RE: New Here/Park Nicollet ??
I'm also very surprised! I would def. Let them know, they should take care of it. Make sure and get an appointment with one of the nuts there. Candace is also a lap band revision to a vsg, I believe. So, I would hope she would understand.

My advice would be to go back to your bariatric doctor.....I know it's hard, but that's the best place to start, not to mention you should get your labs checked....
Good luck, Kelly

Topic: Medical Issues
Hello all - haven't been on this forum in quite a while but wanted opinions on my medical issues. I am 7 1/2 yrs post-surgery (RNY on 6/7/04). Originally lost 120 lbs but have gained back 50. Have had chronic diahrrea for 3 months straight, and can barely control it sometimes. I also have recurring stomach pains (not sharp pains, but dull aches that last most of the morning - I've gotten used to them). My latest symptom is vertigo - it started a couple days ago and hasn't entirely went away.
Possible self-diagnoses include Celiac's disease, diabetes, pancreatitis or just plain old poor choices. I take vitamins daily and haven't made a change to my eating habits that would coincide with the timing. I finally made a doctor appointment for Monday, but I'm not looking forward to going. I do not have a PCP so this guy is brand new and I really don't think he'll find anything wrong.
I haven't been to my surgeon's office in a couple years (have my labs done at my yearly GYN exam), because I'm embarrassed about the weight gain. It's easier to hide behind a computer screen than it is to face someone who isn't going to listen to the excuses.
Any advice/ideas??
Thanks!

I have the big binder however my nutrition, surgery and follow up care tabs are empty. I asked multiple times if there should should be something there and never really got answers. That's when the "oh you know the drill, you had a lap band" statement kept creeping in.
Dorothy has been the one I've been seeing but I have an appt today with Candace. I'm hauling in that book and making them give me whatever they can find for those tabs. I kept my booklet from when I had the lap band and have been using that as a guide for the last 2 weeks. I was quite surprised by PNC and not having enough info. I was so impressed with the way they handled my band. Having RNY is completely different from the band and I don't want to damage anything or eat the wrong things.
I have pretty much been living on full liquids and a few puree recipes I got off these boards but I have no idea how much I'm supposed to be eating or what you can eat on what stage. It's been a crazy 4 weeks for me.
Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it!

Currently, there isn't anything planned.
It has been held in private homes (although that can be really snug, and not necessarily the safest route since anyone can read these posts and find it), park shelters, and apartment complex community rooms. Usually, it's for 2-3 hours on a Saturday afternoon, and we've had everyone bring something potluck to share, to make it a WLS-friendly social event!
Also, if there was a cost to renting a facility for the event, the host would understandably ask for a $5-10 donation to help cover the cost. Not a bad deal, when you consider the fact you may go home with several hundred dollars worth of clothes!
So if anyone feels up to it, feel free to take the bull by the horns and just DO IT. I've done it in the past, but am too busy with two jobs these days. Plus I've been maintaining and haven't had any clothes to get rid of for a couple of years now, for which I'm very thankful!
