I'm a bit late, but will chime in anyway.  :)

It's been a fun, busy, productive summer.  I had my surgery May 19, then had the summer off (I'm a teacher.)  I've had some meetings the last couple weeks and go back full time for the first time since surgery on Monday.  I'm excited for the new year, but sad my summer is ending.  Despite the busyness and being home, I've still managed to lose a lot of weight, and will go back to work almost 70 pounds lighter!!!  My sleeve is an amazing tool!!

Lots of great suggestions, so I won't add any more, except to say:  embrace your new lifestyle and begin to add exercise into your routine, too.  I could not have done it without adding movement to the mix.  I started with walking--even if it's just around the block.  Find something you like to do, and (as Nike says) just do it!

Paul gave you great advice, start with your post-op habits NOW.  That will make the transition a lot easier once you're on 'the other side'.

Stop drinking carbonated beverages.

Chew your food to applesauce consistency (VERY important post op - getting stuck SUCKS!   )

No drinking with meals, or for 30 minutes before or after.

PROTEIN FIRST

By this time, you've got the list - follow it now.  Most people have some kind of 'last supper' deal, and that's fine (unless your surgeon insists that you lose a certain amount of weight pre-op).  Just pretend you've already had the surgery, there will be enough to deal with after without having to learn all these new habits on top of it!

I would change one suggestion Paul made, he said join a hospital-based support group OR a coffee support group.  I say, DO BOTH!!!  You'll get something different out of each

Good luck, and CONGRATS!

Those are great victories Jessica!  Isnt' that great?

And I am firmly convinced that a day of indulgence, like during a trip to Valleyfair (or to the State Fair, which I am planning) is okay.  Who wants to live their life believing we can never do those things?  It's just that we can't do them everyday!

Congratulations. I recommend starting some of yoour post op lifestyles now. Qiut drinking before, with or shortly after meals. Get a smaller plate and start cutting back on Quantities of food. Start a journal so you can track proteins.
There, there are some challenges to get you thinking and being a mindful eater, You will find out how important that is real soon.
Enjoy the new you. Oh andfind a support group to do some mutual encouragement. There are hospital ones (and you don't have to have been a patient there to participate.) OR you can join a Saturday
WLS coffee  group either on the north or south side of the metro if you are close.

Congrats!!!  How exciting!  The only pertinant things you should bring to the hospital is, lipbalm and a pillow for the ride home, and I found it unecessary to bring extra clothes.  I just wore home what I came to the hospital in.  The hospital provided everything else, soaps, toothbrush and paste, etc...  Oh, maybe earplugs if you want.  There can be a lot of distracting noises, I didn't get much sleep while in the hospital.  I had brought my laptop but ended up not feeling up to using it.  Good luck!  Saving you a seat on the losers' bench.

Wow Renae, you are doing so well and just melting away!

No loss this week for me.  Not too bad considering I went to Valleyfair and didn't eat the greatest.  Oh speaking of....I had a few NSV's at Valleyfair.  I went to Guess Your Age and Weight...I won on both.  Never ever in my life would I have stepped on a scale in front of a crowd but I did it proudly!  Also my tushie fit very nicely on all the rides.  :)
