Hi! I am 3.5 years post op from RYN with Dr Drew! He was my savior in human clothes and he is patient and wants you to be successful! I love him and would recommend him to anyone! I work at Abbott and you'll be in good hands! Good luck in your decision but just know all of the drs on your list are very good and would be in good hands with any of those surgeons. Good Luck and best wishes!!

Hi!  I am also back from being gone for a while and its so nice to see familiar faces (Connie and Darla) just in my first post!  I was always more of a lurker but hoping I can figure out how to navigate these boards and make the most of it.  I had my surgery in 2004 with Dr Jones and have maintained very well until now.  That's why I'm here-to share and see what others are doing fto get back on track.  And to just catch up, too!

Hi Darla!

I am so green with jealousy! I hope you both have an amazing time!
I have so many bucket list things I want to do....

* Go somewhere on a tropical vacation...
* Scuba dive or snorkel in a tropical blue lagoon...
* I want to do the Warrior Dash this summer...I have a bad knee...but I'm going to the doc to see if he can shoot some cortisone in there...

The list is long...those were a few...

Have an awesome time!!

Topic: Checking in
This place has been so quiet lately - no thanks to me...  Just thought I'd check in with a few thoughts.

My daughter and I are leaving for a week long vacation in ***** Cana this Saturday with a dear friend - I've been looking forward to this ever since I went there with friends last winter!  It was the B.E.S.T. week of my life, with the best travel companions EVER!  I'm looking forward to sharing that with my daughter, but she's 19 and still a bit of a drama queen.  I love her more than words can express, and for the most part we get along great, but I have to admit - I'm a little nervous that she's not mature enough to leave the drama at home for the whole week.  Just go with the flow.

I'm also a little nervous because I've been looking forward to checking something off my bucket list while we're there -  riding a horse on a tropical beach!  I've checked out the ranch and all, but my daughter has a serious weight problem, and isn't sure she'll be able to get herself up in a saddle if they don't use mounting blocks.  I know I can - after decades of being obese, I have gone riding a few times in the last few years.  I checked with them a few weeks ago, and she is well under their weight limit for their horses.  But if they reply to my email that they do NOT use mounting blocks, I'm pretty sure she won't want to go.  I HOPE she won't have a hissy fit if I go without her, because seriously?  I NEED to!  It's been a life-long dream of mine!  That, swimming with dolphins (did that in '05), and riding in a hot air balloon (still on the list).

What a drag being obese is/was/can be.  I'm so thankful for this surgery, and that I've been able to maintain my loss.  I would still love to shave another 20 or so off, but I'm happy.

What's on YOUR bucket list?  (Doesn't have to be weight related)

Cambridge Hospital 6:00pm to 7:30pm Dining Room B

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to give you a heads up and let you know we'll be discussing how to accomplish goals Thursday night! It seems no matter where we are in our journey, we can always find something we want to achieve. We'll talk about how to pick good goals for ourselves, as well as strategies for acheiving them! I look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know you all. Please feel free to bring your support person with you as well!

With warm regards,

Heidi

Well, I am up about a pound and  a half from vacation, but I can live with that.  I need to get my butt in gear though because I only lost 1.4 this past month- yikes!  I'm still within the first year span and need to maximize the loss.  So, here's to a better week, buckling down, and finally exercising.  :)

Good Monday morning, all!  Hope you all had a good week!

Though my weight does not necessarily reflect it, I had a good week.  My run mileage is back up, and I'm feeling more and more like I can be ready for my half-marathon in April.  We have quite a good group signed up for the Charities Challenge 5K on April 21st.  If you haven't done so yet, sign up for the run/walk at  http://www.charitieschallenge.org/html/challenge_obesity_5k. html.

Our team is the "Formerly Fat Friends" and the password is coffee.  Anybody is welcome to join us--the 5K is around Como Lake, and it's for runners, walkers or anywhere in between.  We'll have fun!!

I gained weight this week:  last week was 138.1, I think, this week 140.5.  Not sure why, but it seems I just bounce around between about 138 and 141.  If I can stay in that range, I'll be very happy.

Paul:  I will be happy to post my mileage here.  I typically track Sunday to Saturday, so I'm going to post Sunday, March 11 through Saturday March 17th.  That'll give you a break, because I ran 9.5 miles yesterday!  My longest run yet.  (You'll see that mileage show up next week, LOL.)  MIleage for 3/11-3/17 was: 24.6 miles over 4 hours 22 minutes.   It was a good week!
